Is there any sign of ground forces being added yet? Infantry and tanks. This would add alot to the game.

As much as I want combined arms warfare to be a thing, unfortunately I don't think it will ever happen :c

PGI had managed to set up a rudimentary AI, so tanks with turrets on them, with fixed pathing is a possibility. All depends on their imagination level.

The maps here are too cluttered and rugged to be played with tanks.

In MWO: Never.

In MW5: Maybe, but won't be able pilot them most likely (i.e. take a Swift Wind out for a spin around the base).

its a crying shame they will never do it. I love the world from childhood, its just a dream to see all the ground forces to be add. O and the elementals cant forget them.

This game will never see that , hopefully MW5 will be a true battletech game. Also , if you don't mind turn based the HBS Battletech game features the whole battletech roster i think.

Adding tanks and hovercraft to the game would help the player base.
Those who may not like a battlemech would love a futuristic tank.
My WOT loving friends who don't like mechs.
Would jump ship quick for battlemech armored vechicles.
Or so they've told me.
Wanna buy a tank pack?

if you want tank/infantry combat + mechs, that game exists, Mechwarrior: Living Legends, it's even free and updated.

Seconding just play MWLL.

Brawls are even fun in it although you still have the never commit to battle snipe crowd in that game as well.

Not often I agree with WoL, but yeah.

The game is fine enough, it's not perfect, and for the price of a mech, you can get a tank that's got way more firepower...but it's really, about the most faithful battletech mixed-arms game you'll find.

I have this growing impression that people completely believe that MW5 will not be a minimally viable product.

It's going to be horrible and people are going to drown PGI in money for it.

MW5:Mercs is going to follow MW4:Mercs template. They're using a better engine for it. Not having to deal with online components it'll be easier to optimize and make work. At worst it's going to be a buggy and generic take on MW4:Mercs. At best it'll be MW4:Mercs with updated graphics and a better mechlab. Yeah, I said it, MWO's mechlab is better than all the shet that came before.

Good chance we'll see vehicles in the game. But probably not playable.

I'm really not a big fan with what the community devs did to the project as compared to the older builds. I honestly felt that they should have kept the last build from the real devs and just adding better visual changes and engine improvements. The community devs favor mix and match mech loadouts compared to the older mechs that would use more canonical battletech load outs (Laser boats, Ballistic boats, etc that are nearly non-existent now which made MW:LL fun to begin with).

The most recent community build doesn't feel as fun as the last official patch from the game. I'm convinced that the community devs don't know what they are doing with unnecessary buffs to certain weapons (Clan Large Pulse lasers got a 100m range increase and more dps, but was removed from alot of the older mechs and now onto tanks for whatever reason is just one example).
