Are you looking for a innersphere or clan unit. Or a merchant mercenary unit that changes loyalty here and there?
Correction.. wait, undoing correction!!!

Majority of the unit information is noted in this subforum. Not all but most.

Yep, as Tarl said.
Most Unit/Recruit thread info is under the FP banner. So check it out, you'll find plenty there.

your google fu and forum warrior skills have to be up to snuff to find the relevant information. Can't easily be accomplished inside the game unfortunately. Then you have to download another program or two, and then ask for permission to join, and then see if you are accepted.

you have already been told where to look, but before applying for a unit make sure you have enough information to make an informed decision.
you should find out when the unit is active, there is no point joining a unit who are only active when you are usualy asleap or at work.
what is their play preferance, you do not want to join a hardcore competitave unit if you want casual play, and do not want a unit who do quickplay only if you want faction play
is there a code of conduct and if so are you happy to abide by it
that will give you a good starting point.
I am with a unit who are a merc corp and take the best paying contracts, we have about 170 members. There is a basic training program we expect members to complete which gives them the tools to get the most out of MWO, we have people active in the EU/UK, NA and Austrailian evening times, our code of conduct is basicly honourable conduct, and we have a mix of casual and competitave players.
if you are interested there is a link in my signiture.
