Hello people. I'm not really new, I have been playing MWO on and off for around 2 years now. I have not spent allot of time playing due to other games coming and going and a general lack of skill in this game.

Now my question now that I find myself playing this much more often is that I want to get better and help my chosen faction on Clan Wolf. I understand things like twisting my torso to spread damage, to keep moving to make it harder to hit damaged spots on my mechs, to lock on and try to aim at damaged spots, and where to hit most mechs I come across depending on type and build. But I am still having issues such as feeling like my armor is made of paper and even in one on one doing what I know I should be doing I seem to get wrecked before I can even think about it.

I just want some tips and to get some advice from the older and better players in this game. I play the Adder, kit fox, Nova, Timber wolf, Supernova, and the marauder iic.

Sorry if this is not the correct place to post this.

You are right to assume your armor is paper thin!

Twisting helps a lot but it only goes so far. If you want to survive longer, remember that armor on a mech is finite, but terrain is infinite! Use terrain to your advantage, and let it absorb damage for you!

if in the Timber Wolf, Supernova and Marauder IIC you feal like your armor is paper thin most likely you are frequantly getting focus fired by the enemy team, a likely reason for this is if you are first around a corner.

it is possible for those Mechs to go down in less than 5 seconds if the team focuses you down, so you want to prevent them from doing that, a significant part of this is sticking with the team and if you are damaged making sure not to be the first around a corner.

if you work with the group (preferably using VOIP to comunitate with the rest of the team (coordination is the single most overpowered thing you can have in this game) you will find your team focusing fire and taking down the enemy Mechs quickly 1 at a time, and if less Mechs are shooting back you take less damage in return.

Sounds like positioning may well be the next thing to think about. I go over positioning here after some other things.

I 'unno though, I think I'd hafta drop with ya or what a replay to get an idea of what to work on next. I'm not on too often, by send me a friend invite, an next time we're on together we can hom in a few games and I'll give what advice I can.

P.S. Totally the correct place for this, though I suppose Guides and Strats coulda worked as well.

Yeah, you get focused by any 3 mechs who can aim, you go down. Tonnage and armor matter little.

Work on Positioning, Timing, and reading the Radar so you can 'play the field'.

Make sure you front load your armor. I usually run between 3-5 points on the rear and all else up front.

I would revise the statement "front load your armor". Run 10 on your back for anything over a medium until you learn your positioning. This also depends on your play style. If you are playing as a line mech you need less back armor. If you are in the back or off to the sides you will probably need more. If you are going around a corner look first for that UAV that isn't blue. Always round corners with friends. Basically never be alone and preferably with a more threatening target. And shoot the thing that your buddy is shooting that way the dirty red will feel like his armor is made of paper.

Good luck and Cheers!
