What was the last BIG patch as in game changing patch that we had? And then why?

Or do you mean the Clam Invasion?
Or, Quirkening could also apply. That shifted the Meta around chaotically for a short while.

The patch that changed mech facing as pointed doritos for the enemy happened before I started playing, but is possibly the last patch that people violently complained about the most.

Rescale. A number of relevant mechs became irrelevant and a few went the other way (NVA notably).

KDK-3 before that.

I'd honestly say Clam Invasion.
Not only did it introduce Clam tech and Clam mechs (which shifted the meta by a huge deal) but this was pretty crucial to CW
