Nope. Just bought three Huntsman. Plan on keeping all three, they all run different builds. In fact, I keep most of my mechs. I hate rebuilding mechs, I like having one dedicated mech per build. I have five Timbers now I think, lol.

Me too, and it is expecially true with Omni... I like to try different build but I hate messing with pods, so I have specialized builds for each variants (LRM, Poptart, Dakka timbie, etc).

Yeah I've put a stop to buying new mechs for C-bills (and mechpacks/MC for that matter). I've also stopped buying three mechs of the same variant.

With the skill-progression uncertainty, I really don't want to be caught with my pants down by either 1. wasting money on the same variant, which would be a strong possibility with the skill tree roll out, 2. burning my C-bill stash so when a new skill-progression is rolled out, I don't have adequate funds to experiment and/or modify.

For the time being, I'm not adding two more mechs to a single unmastered chassis until a new skill-progression is actually launched, or officially sidelined. Until then, I'll be hoarding currency and playing the wait-and-see angle. The grind is just way too real sometimes, and I can't be bothered to piss away currency because of skill-progression uncertainty.

No. Skill tree has convinced me stop buying buying any more 'Mechs for C-Bills full stop. Maybe when I've ground more XP and C-Bills on my existing 'Mechs.

I'm waiting to see what actually is going to happen with the Skill Tree thing first, then I may buy new mechs for c-Bills. I have a couple in mind that I only want 1 version of but don't want to be caught with my pants down when PGI decides to do something different etc....

Apart from 3 Mech chassis that I REAAALLLY like, I don't usually buy 3 variants to begin with, but I guess being a free player has influenced my mentality on that

I'm still buying whatever looks interesting, but definitely influenced by the possibility of the ST and removal of the Rule of Three.
Meaning

- If a mechpack has the usual multiple variant offerings, and it looks interesting/can theory craft uses for each variant (very commonly yes) then I'm still buying. (just picked up the Uziel yesterday actually and have several of the next packs pre-ordered)

- If a mech looks interesting, but I'm not dying for it or it just doesn't have three variants I want, or it's just a curiosity... I've recently started picking up that single variant due to the (possibly) coming ST. Funny that, ST is actually increasing my mech stable :)

I have not.
I will probably continue to grind sets of 3, post-skill tree, until I can get myself out of the habit.
Don't know how quickly that will happen.

I recently bought my 3rd Linebacker, because it's possible the Skill Tree gets pushed back again.

The Skill Tree was fine before and could've gone through updates if necessary.

The last "new" mech I added to my stable was the Kodiak when it came out for c-bills.

Bought all three.

Since then have bought none, nada, ZERO in anticipation of the dropping of the 3 mech requirement. Will hang onto my c-bills and keep running my collection of antique mechs until the direction they are going is made crystal clear.

I wonder how much the uncertainty is affecting sales at this point. Maybe not much since they seem to have settled on the system they are using now to sell mechs.

When I first started playing this game I argued that eliting and mastering mechs was unnecessary. Then I bought and atlas and fell in love with the chasis and bought three just for the fun of it. Since then I've always bought at least three of a chasis and performed the obligatory grind. After the announcement of the end of the rule of three, I've purchased a few standalones. It's been great. I now have a lone highlander, a lone urbanmech, a lone catapult and a lone cataphract. I'll be honest, I don't miss eliting them at all. With just basics they play fine, I compete fine and life goes on.

There are just too many mechs out there that have nearly identical hardpoints across each chasis. Seriously, there's not much difference. And until new weapons come out, there will continue to be a real bottleneck on variety. Grinding out the resistance 2 pack was a nightmare. All four mechs have very little difference from chasis to chasis, I held off on the catapult for years since I they were too similar. Even the two heroes are very similar to a cbill chasis.

So I'm delighting in the change. Even if the skill tree is delayed or scrapped, I have no problem with mechs that are just basiced. I'm no wilting flower that needs every mathematical advantage to be competitive. I still have fun with it as is. Now I can finally look at a few more of those odd mechs I've wanted to try over the years but didn't want to do a three chasis grind on.

No, I have not. I was considering this, but given the uncertain date and the full extent of skill tree update at the moment, this would hinder my progress for these next few months. Though, most of my mechs are fully moduled and I expect to get a big refund for them when the update goes live.
What is the reason for saving CBills now and giving the enemies on the battlefield the edge in this area?

I stopped buying mechs in general and I focus on what I have. When the skill tree comes out there will be a disparity between those who can remaster all their mechs and those that can't, and I really do not want to be part of the spectrum of people that have less durability, less agility, less heat management related skills, worse weapon ranges, etc.

I'm just going on playing by rule of three until I know when the skill tree is going to happen. It's all just free game currency. Even if I suffer a net loss because of the skill tree it just gives me a goal to continue working toward.

Um no..

But then again the mech packages come with at least three. I haven't done so much as buy a regular mech that I haven't already mastered in years.

Yeah been doing it for ages it seems now.

Since the delay I've also had to stop buying modules because Im getting the feeling PGI is going to make some cop out on refunding my modules for the cbills like they promised.
