I'd Like To Hear If We'll Ever Have Melee, Otherwise Remove The Hand Actuator Crits From All Mechs.

I would like to know if we will ever have Melee attacks or hand-held weapons in this game.

If not, then I would request that all Mechs with hand actuators have that critical slot opened up. There is no reason to consume a slot with a non-functional piece of equipment (hands), and it serves as a nerf that strictly violates BattleTech Canon. According to BT, having Hands is a benefit. In the current itteration of MWO, having Hands is PURELY detrimental.

So, please, either say we'll have a use for hands, or free up the crit slot. There is no logical, reasonable, or valid excuse to have non-functional hands that consume critical space. It's a nonsensical nerf to handed mechs.

No reason to have non functioning gyros, hips, foot actuators, or shoulders either. *shrug*

May as well at this point, considering how far we've deviated from lore already.

Or as I suggested a few years back, give mechs some sort of hill climb bonus that have hand actuators, whether it be a smaller class type when climbing or some sort of climb rate boost like the hill climb module.

Try climbing something with your fists balled up and without if you can't picture why I'm suggesting this.

ALL mechs have those, so its not an arbitrary nerf to some mechs.

That is true, but you already know they are gearing up to build up a case to have actuators removed, so that's not what they want to hear. To carry larger ballistics I'm assuming.

Kinda like that whole grass roots component hp campaign that came out of nowhere and then poof got implemented in lieu of skill tree. Sweetness Payton.

Gladly trade 1 Hand Actuator slot that then allows 1 extra DHS. Make that a 2 for 2 on some builds. Posted Image

P.S. As to the component HP thing. That should have been done 5 GD years ago. There is no such thing as a "recent grassroots" thing for that...

No, not at all. Its really more that its very irritating for IS mechs that can only fit DHS in arms or STs to be able to only fit 2 per arm instead of 3 due to the mech happening to be drawn with hands, and also those two slots can be make or break for space hungry IS ballistic boat builds (2 tons of ammo can be the difference between a viable build and one that cant fit enough ammo)

I thought that was part of the challenge - trying to squeeze as much or little as you can into a limited chassis , that one has to do to make this game fun?

Yes, agreed, but hands are just annoying because they dont DO anything, so having them is just a random nerf. I mean, so are low mounted ST hardpoints instead of shoulder ones, but..

Id be fine with giving hand actuators some kind of purpose, like faster hill climb or something, but its really annoying that some mechs just have 2 slots less to use for absolutely no gains.

Of course not.

This game is on the backburner while PGI focus on creating MW5, and that's been the case since January last year. Even New Tech is going to turn out to be some remodelled/resized weapons and mechanics... relatively easy stuff to extend.

Adding melee, knockdown etc would require significant new coding and animating. It's just not going to happen.

I don't like this any more than anyone else does. But denying reality isn't going to improve reality, either.

id be okay with hand actuators giving a quirk bonus for hill climbing or getting up from knockdown faster (if they readd it)

hand actuators should do something though. because youre losing crit slots for no reason.

I do not believe melee should be in the game though. or at least melee shouldnt be added for all mechs, maybe just for specific mechs that are known to use melee weapons like the hatchetman. adding melee for every mech in the game would simply require way too much work for way too little gain. and the game quite frankly has bigger problems the devs need to be working on like proper skill tree that actually gives us role warfare.

Don't hand actuators provided additional horizontal range away from the torso, so you can fire behind you with arm mounted weapons while running away?
