you are right Quicksilver Kalasa, i didnt watch the championship and yet plan to do that, but we both know that whatever the spider pilot pulled of, could have done better in a pirates bane or an arctic cheetah.

Spider 5K is the only viable variant, but it is a powerhouse. They were seen commonly through the entirety of Season 8 and the world championship, even moreso in the EU scene. It did suffer a reduction in ROF but gained a buff in overall damage recently, and with the change in crits lately I don't doubt we'll be seeing the Spider 5K in use this season as well.

85 ton mechs are the designated commander mechs in MRBC Season 9. They understood their telemetry perfectly.

Bandit ... I have a lot of trouble imagining the Warhawk could end up being competitive but stranger things have happened (see Summoner).

But would the spider 5k still be considered "meta" because I had some waste of existence T1 arguing they've never been a meta mech in a QP game this weekend when whining about our last live player in the 5k with the three kills and was working on his 4th when he got greedy and instead of backing off to use his ERLL range advantage tried to brawl stuff with heavy short/medium range weapon loads still.

That's simply false. The Pirate's Bane, even if it was legal in most leagues, is not one of the LCTs you want to use in comp (3M/1E/1V are the ones you use). It can only mount 2MGs (and is dumb to mount any). Even the LCT-1V, which shares hardpoints with the SDR-5K lacks the tonnage to mount a legitimate single laser (LL, ERLL or LPL) and 4MGs, the good build on the SDR-5K. And the ACH, frankly, fills an entirely different role due to its range profile and heat curve being totally different.

Hehe, I don't know, I could see some extreme range decks opting for a BLR-2C with ER LL.

Since they're identical, please let them explain the price differences.

You talking about the Clam VS Spheroid price difference?
That's easy

Add up the cost of every component on a robot
That's the Mechlab price

There's no bias involved, most Clams come with an XL, DHS, Endo Ferro
That's a couple million added to a Spheroid mech, who often come with absolutely nothing.

How many years have you had more weapons and better engines? ... yeah...

And will remain as such

LFE is a poor rip off of the cXL. It had better not have identical penalties to the cXL, because that would just be a slap in the face of balance.

Nothing will be changing some of the most powerful Clam builds either. There's very little chance the LGauss is anything but terrible (there is a chance, of course), and nothing else would compete with the cGauss+cERPPC Poke
And it's unlikely anything Spheroid will be better at brawling than cSRM6+A and cSPLs

Hurray balance!

Possibly. There is so much potential for major game shakeup over the next four months, it's really hard to make a solid call on anything.

Eeeeh, Summoner wasn't that strange. It was already one of the choice heavies for brawling, it just gained a new role with the Loyalty Nipples.

No he couldn't. When you do watch, you will realize that the Spider sustained hits that would have killed the Locust and that the rate of fire on the Spider allowed it to poke much more aggressively than the ACH.

Finally got on the Kodiak bandwagon. Not having tons of success with the other variants but the KDK-3 is everything that its cracked up to be. 3rd game was an "Ace of Spades" and currently have a 12.0 KDR on it. Yeesh! And to think it has already been nerfed a few times.

the cooldown quirk basically doubles the firepower of the mounted laser. but an ach can mout two erll easily and still fight after losing a side torso.

i love my spiders, especially after my playstyle somehow changed quite a lot for the better with much better reaults than half a year ago, but an ach is still the stronger option imo. it can mount an ecm and fight targets regardless of size, where as in a spider you pretty much lose every 1v1 against most other lights due to the lack of firepower. killing a spider while piloting a locust is much easier than the other way around.

someone said he would prefer an locust 1V to the pirates bane? why the heck would anyone do that?

i would rather have 4ml on a ecm carrying pirates bane than a single laser and a few mg on the 1V.

the ach can laserpoke just as much as the spider. amusing that a bit of time ago the 5D was the only spider even halfway considered viable and now its the 5k? seems i missed a few things.

I call FAKE NEWS on this post. Terciel has some type of comp oriented objective to actually educate the player base into effective mech warriors. The ignorant and uneducated argumentative types can safely ignore and continue on with your bad ideas for mech builds and crappy game play.

That was my doing entirely, and all blame rests well with me, ´cause I don´t regret doing it .
Why?
My quest for a personal mech and to see if I was able to introduce the so-called "SUCKONNER" into what other people so eloquently call "meta" while making best use of my unhealthy love for anything ERPPC .

Next stop/intended "personal mech" target : WHK Prime, 4 ERPPC, TC3, rest is DHS .

Comp on, dudes and dudettes :)

Fair Warning to anyone that may not know. Premium time bought with MC is considered "Active" and starts counting down immediately upon purchase. I was not aware of this and spent 1625 MC for 30 days. This will go to waste as I will not be playing the game until after the April patch at the earliest. Unfortunately, support cannot help me by reversing active premium time so I wasted 1625MC.

Posting this in the hope it may keep anyone else from making the same mistake. You learn something new every day.

Spider 5D was my first mech, ever I think... yes I know there are lots of more high powered mechs out there but it is so dang nimble and fun with 3 MPL + ECM...

I am a bit confused with when the sale ends:
5 pm UTC is in 45 minutes to me...
10 pm PST is in 12h and 45 minutes to me.

i think someone messed up am and pm somewhere there, or maybe it's me xD

Well since mech prices seem to be normal as per smurfy, it's not just a cosmetical problem... Thanks for ending the sale early... saves me the decision whether to spend before the game gets revamped to oblivion.

Crunch has been wondering the same thing. Can anyone confirm if the sale is still on as it is well after 5pm (1700) UTC?
