I really think this game could do with two key things moving forward.
1. In game chat channels, channels for help and recruitment as well as clan / guild chat (what ever you call them here) . This allows players to share ideas, recruit for their guild or clan as well as let the veteran players offer advice real time to newer and less experienced players.

2. A way for players to discover and find groups to join in game. A guild search or some sort.

Ive been playing this game on and off for years, ive never done any faction play and have only ever played QP matches. I would really like to be able to find a gorup to play with, learn from and perhaps even get better with over time.
Quickplay is fun but its a total **** show 99% of the time and its very hard to know what im doing wrong in the QP environment as its so random.

TBF, CW is no better than QP--and in many ways even worse since there is zero matchmaking. One match you are rolling over pugs, and the next match you are matched against comp teams--which will equate to 20+ minutes of agony. But yeah, recruitment channel would be nice to have.

The chance to be matched against comp teams is almost nonexistent. Save EMPS short recent detour, and ISENs participation, i haven't seen comp teams in CW for ages. I have not been matched with or against a comp team for one single time in 4.1.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I have very limited knowledge, so I should make one of these drop deck things and go have at it in one of those pop up faction matches? I like the idea of respawns of a sort I just have no idea what to use lol.

Also you have to put clan mechs with clan mech and IS with IS right? I cant mix and match? (Pity as I am no loyalist to either side)

Not sure why pgi has been so adverse to adding more chat features to the game .. game has been needing it for so long . maybe within the next year or two well have chat through the mwo experience.

In-game chat, as in 'in game, not in match' has been requested since day 1. All of the chat features in MWO are fairly rudimentary so it's my guess they simply don't have anyone on board who can write a decent chat code.

While it is possible that a wide-open 'general' chat would be near-useless babble, private named global channels with a JOIN function work very well. I like the way Cryptic has set up global user-made channels with invite/kick, moderators etc in Star Trek Online/Neverwinter/Champions. That might be a good way to go.

I support this. Of course if someone doesn't want to be bothered a toggle to turn it off should be added.

And the lack of said features like this since Day 1 could also be seen as a detriment to the MWO community. Even in-combat VOIP was not added until Feb 2015, a few months after Community Warfare had gone live in Dec 2014, so during that time pilots dropping into CW if they wanted to drop as part of a co-op w/VOIP, they would try to find and join up with people using Comstar's NA or EU Teamspeaks servers, or a Clan/House server, or simply attempt to use the combat chat interface (no quick commands/scroll wheel).

Im really happy to hear that many others share a similar opinion :)

Im not saying I have the answers but even a few basic channels with a opt in / opt out feature would be amazing. I just dont see how MWO is to grow its competitive scene, let alone getting some clans / guilds built up and fighting each other without the ability to communicate.

Also where the bloody hell does one even go to find a group to play with in this game? lol

Every faction, including mercs have their own recruiting board here on the forums. Just go to any subforum under https://mwomercs.com...7-faction-play/ and look around for a unit that fits your preference. Another option is to go into a public Teamspeak server, look for a unit that is playing there and see if you can tag along with them. My unit hangs out on the FRR hub. Teamspeak info can be found in this thread.

Yup.. this game is in dire need of Chat channels, both public and private.. Diablo had this 20 years ago.. Why on earth can't they have a chat server these days.. There was chat rooms when we had 1800 baud modems..

They only need a single chat server too, hardly a big expense in the grand scheme of things. I'm sure there are already progs that are freeware that could just be simply adapted. Not even a big code job. I could set up a public chat server.. No clue why this is not a thing

and yea, City of heroes, or Starwars galaxies, along with Diablo/Starcraft aka the original battle.net would be perfect..

People could get help, talk live about mechs with vets, ask for build advice, just hang out and BS while waiting for buddies to show up.. what ever.. It would be a huge boost to community. And if you don't wanna chat.. DON'T JOIN A CHAT! it is just so simple
