I had to go through the same issue. I narrowed it down to the hunchback or catapult due to the play style I might adapt. It started to feel like purchasing a new car so I solved my problem by choosing legendary over my original choice of elite. It's tough if money is tight but it sure takes the pressure off of wondering if you made the right choice.

I chose the jenner to break away from my normal role of bIg, beefy, tankiness. I'm going to make myself excel at fast recon simply given I've never done it before.

If I had to pick one, I'd go with the Atlas. Why? Firstly, it'll cost more to repair, so that lifetime C$ booster would be useful. Secondly, it'll cost more C$ to buy later in-game. Starting with the most expensive option & buying cheaper mechs later makes better financial sense than doing it the other way around. Thirdly, think of it as a insurance policy. If Role Warfare doesn't work out as intended & MW-O becomes another race to the 100-tonner, you'll already have one.
But my advice would be do more overtime, sell your soul, do whatever it takes to raise another $60 & buy the Legendary Founders pack. Problem solved.

Elizander, on 21 July 2012 - 04:49 AM, said:
PPCs in the torso will aim slower than PPCs in the arms.
that really depends on if the catapults "arms" can actually move side-to-side, take a closer look at the catapult video, notice that the little round circle for "arm" weapons never leaves the crosshairs for the torso weapons, unlike the other videos...
personally i'm going to get the C1.
i simply don't want to be "yet another" hunchback, and i don't think my PC will handle playing a fast light (its bare minimum spec on CPU side)
atlas is out because its too slow.

Question is if you get the money back if you buy a cheaper mech.
Atlas is way more expensive than a Jenner. So, if you take a Jenner for example, it would be just fair if the founder get's the price difference in C-Bills.
If you can't decide: go legendary.

Yeah, I'm really torn between the catapult and the atlas...
I kind of like the design of the catapult somewhat better and the fact that it's faster, but I prefer the K2 variant to the C1. And with the atlas, it's bigger, and costs more, so while it may cost more to repair it seems you'd save more by getting it for free. And the 25% C-bill bonus would make up for the cost of maintaining it should I ever want to use it.
the thing making it so difficult to choose is that I haven't played this game or used either mech. So I can't go by experience. The catapult seems like a bit of a pushover while the atlas just seems kind of slow and I hear quite a few stories of jenners outmaneuvering and killing it.
I don't want to buy a big mech just to get killed by a tiny mech. That would be rather embarrassing.

Yep, Same here, Catapult or Atlas.
Light mech/medium mech i plan on buying as neither of those supplied in founder package is my favorite.
Judging videos seen, i think Catapult is more what i like to play but on the other hand Atlas is most likely expensive to upkeep and having a bit cheaper tank like mech for those moments when you want to just brutal brawl, seems wiser choice.
Hard decisions indeed.

I will probably play a scout mech most of the time but if I had to choose [probably getting the Legendary Founder] it would be the Atlas, simply a matter of Cbills.
