something really puzzles me:

why did you take the path of completely rewriting the skill tree and removing modules when you could just have removed the 3 mechs to master limitation and keep the old skill tree as it was?
just without the need to get 3 mechs of the same chassis?

also about modules, you could have just streamlined the module system to decrease a bit the overwhelming amount of grind
like merging together cooldown and range modules for every weapon into the same module and also merging together clan and IS modules for each weapon type

example:

generic SRM module would affect all SRMs (2, 4 and 6) for both clan and IS
same for gauss
then a generic autocannon module for both range and cooldown of all autocannons both IS and clan
then one for PPCs and ERPPCs together
and so on
maybe increase the XP cost but streamline the system so that if i have a mech with medium lasers and AC20 and only 2 weapon module slots for example i would only need the laser and the autocannon modules to boost both range and cooldown for both weapons, and if i decide that i dont want medium lasers anymore but i prefer pulse lasers and a smaller autocannon the modules i unlocked and bought would still work

i think these two simple improvements would have been not only much easier to implement and code but wouldnt have pissed off so many whales and make them cancel your preorders for mech packs

also mechs would have been able to keep their quirks to not create a mess of game balance between clan and IS

in the end i think something like this would have mde both veterans and whales and new players happy as well

One of the skills on the current tree doesn't do anything (pin point). That along with the 3 mech rule needs to be changed.

I like the idea of the new tree and I think many people do, maybe even the majority of people did. However I think a few things made it cause a bad reaction.

On one hand they are decoupling the Engine/Twist synergy but in the skill tree I can skill up to the point where even with the decoupling my TBR would twist faster than it does now.

On another hand, they were removing the majority of the quirks, but giving the same skill tree benefits to the God Tier mechs.

They as far as I'm aware, we're not giving us a 100% refund on all modules cBills, GXP as well as mech XP. I didn't follow it too closely in that regard but if they aren't giving us 100% of our time and effort back then no deal.

Also the cost to skill up was terrible. A new player is already short on funds from buying their first mech, then they need funds to set it up, then they need funds again to skill it up. By the time they finished 1 mech they'd be starting again at 0 for a whole second mech and by the time they had a drop deck of 4 mechs for faction war (they would likely have quit before then) they'd be behind us regular players by millions upon MILLIONS of cBills. Huge increase in the pay-gate to greatness.

One last thing that bothered me, the unnecessary skills. Throughout all the trees the skills you want to collect like Radar Dep and Seismic you have to go through Hill Climb and Shock absorbance. To get to the useful cool-down quirks you had to go through laser duration quirks and missile velocity quirks, for mechs that weren't going to use a mixed load out you're wasting points.

What they need to do, is make a skill tree that allows us to be as good as we are now.

Right now, I have speed tweak 7.5%, 15% heat dissipation, 20% heat capacity, 5% twist range, 15% accelerationm 15% deceleration, 5% twist speed, 5% turning speed. 5% all weapon cool-down, 33% shutdown/turn-on, 10% cool down for my main weapon and 12% range for my main weapon as well as Radar Deprivation and Seismic Sensor.

Give me a tree that can give me all of that at once without wasting nodes and costing a fortune. That is exactly what my mastered fully loaded with modules mech has and I should be able to keep it that way.

When you completely rewrite the tree but don't allow people to get back to where they used to be you're nerfing everyone.

well they could have just replaced pinpoint with something useful, removed the 3 mechs to master limitation and everyone would have been happy, veterans and new players
