That way we can see whether there is anyone coming to the dropship after a total team wipeout (RPG copyright pending).

I believe I'm expressing myself as best I can when I say, "Huh!?"

You want going between 3rd person view and 1st person to change the (virtual) magnetic poles on the world? For goodness' sake why? What benefit would that give?

And you want a battlefield view from the dropship (I assume in FW)? Okay, that part does sound vaguely reasonable and useful, a little foreknowledge of the mess you are about to drop into might be nice. However, it would still make far, far more sense to change some of the dropzone mechanics to be more rational.

Still, the title and the body of your post seem to be entirely different things. Clarity please?

Compass direction/bearing on a map changes where you are, depending on where the mech is on the map...

What one mech see's as bearing "240" might be something else to another mech depending on position...

Okay, so I have to say "Huh?" again.
Yes, bearings do change, Bearings are kind of a personal relative measurement, by definition. 0 is always considered straight ahead of you, 180 behind you (90 right, 270 left). The same way that if you are referring to clock hours 6 is behind you (as in, "watch your six") and 12 is ahead.
As far as degrees, combined with compass directions, 0 is north, 90 east, and so forth (it goes clockwise). Compass direction (whether in degrees or actual direction) is different from bearing.
If I'm heading NE (45 degrees true), and somebody is straight north of me, their bearing to me might be 315, but if I were calling it by compass direction it would be 0 ( & would not be a bearing).
Afaik, the maps do have compass directions applied, but the middle of the might not be north of me when I start. No biggee. If the request is so that all the maps are always oriented so that north (0) is towards the center (more or less) when you start, I'd have to ask why?

So, what again is the problem that needs to be addressed?
