So at first I was unimpressed by the Assassin. But now that I've played with the thing enough to get them all basiced and partially elited, I love them. Like really love them. This is my baby: ASN-21

Anyone else feeling the Assassin like I am? If so, share your thoughts here.

How did I miss that model. Oh well. Looks good. I would probably drop the lasers for more SRM ammo.

ASN-21

haven't had a chance to elite them yet, so I can't make a definitive call yet, but so far, I got nothing but good to say about them.

Eh, not unless you have Artemis, IMO... 4xSRM4 by itself ain't terrible, but I don't find it effective enough, post patch to rely on.

I run my 23 with 3x aSRM6 and get better mileage than 4xSRM4 does on the 21, TBH.

Ran SRM 20 srm6 x 2 srm 4 x 2 on the 21 with five tons of ammo and a 280xl really just to be something different

101 and the 27 I ran 2 LPL and a ML, in different locations obviously

ASRM 6 x2 and two MPL on the DD and the 23 again different loc's

On the 26 ran the cicada build Uac 5 and ML x 4

Now the events over I might switch one to an annoying LRM 5 x 3 with twin ML just for more variation

I love my Assassins - the cockpit, the looks, the feels, the need for a modicum of thought and positioning rather than point-and-click. The Hero might have some fitting problems, some matches are over in an eyeblink and the 27 feels like it has tissue-paper armour even maxed out for reasons that I still can't work out, but those are minor problems. Very glad to be an Assassin owner, and the Civil War tech should make things even more interesting Posted Image

I both agree and disagree on this. I personally find my SRM4s to be plenty reliable for getting kills by themselves. I lose my laser arm often enough that it's not an uncommon thing for me to have to go an entire match with nothing but my SRM4s. The SRM4s are good enough that I'm not awfully concerned when I lose my laser arm. That being said, I totally agree that forgoing the lasers is a bad idea. There have been many times where for one reason or another another SRM volley to finish a target was a bad idea either due to heat or the weapon being on cooldown and I've managed to finish an opponent with my two lasers. They really do come in handy quite often.

Really like piloting the mech. It just feels right. I wish we had a chance to change our loadout on mechs once we find out what the map/mode is because there are just so many options with this mech. Close support, light hunter, harasser, scout, capper...it can fill all those roles (if only PGI would reward them <sigh>).

Jumps like Jordan, sprints like Bolt, can take a punch like GGG; just needs a little more punch of its own. And I seem to get hung up on terrain more than most mechs with the ASN.

Good stuff.

SRM bomber is usually the only way to run this thing and do decently. Too bad SRM 4 got nerfed just prior to its release. Should get more quirks, IMO.

It's possible the Assassin's lack of quirks was in anticipation of the new skill system. If so, and it's delayed for an extended period, I'd hope PGI would quirk the ASN then. Y'know, just in case Posted Image

I friggin love me assassin. I mastered them in a day and got 5 or 6 on the assassin leaderboard with 3 variants. Now whenever I hop on another mech, it dosnt feel right. Cant wait for the civil war stuff coming out. Its gnna make em better than they already are.

also I don't think the assassin needs more quirks. It would be too powerful.

Jokes aside they seem like a mech I would enjoy.
