Hey

Well ... i'm not normally swayed by Dev interviews. They are usually vague affairs and leave me with a sense of eating an Aero ... nice but more Air than chocolate.

This one however really gave me a sense that someone who loves the game like i do is in control or has the ear of those in control.

It left me feeling incredibly hopeful and suppressing an childlike enthusiasm :P

Comments?

You will have a tough time finding a more stand-up guy than Randall Bills.

I always wondered what aeros were like. Not a big chocolate fan...

ANYWAY, I too am excited after seeing this interview. My biggest disappointment with my friend who got me into MechWarrior was his complete lack of caring about the fiction. He specifically said to me once "You read the books, I'll just blow stuff up." It's great to see someone so dedicated with the "fluff" up at the top working with this game. The more I read, the more I believe this will be the game we've all been waiting for.

I'm happy that they are listening to Randall, we might actually end up with a game that follows the sourcebooks more closely.

I'm hoping it means we'll have more of a BT simulation - Randall's been involved with creating all kinds of table top books and rule sets. Perfect guy to bring the board game to life in MWO.

Coming from you, that's high praise.

To be honest, I have to say I got weepy reading the interview, and I'm sort of a tough guy to get that way. Mr. Bills has virtually the same BattleTech upbringing I do and, from the article, it seems we're also in the same age group. I wish I would have had the opportunities he did to become ingratiated with the right crowd of folks, but I think I find myself even happier that someone who cares, perhaps a bit more than I do, about this marvelous universe, is working so closely with Bryan, Russ, Paul, Matt, Kevin, and all the rest, and that they actually give a damn enough to not make the same mistakes previous developers have. Bravo, fella's, keep up the good work.

Can't wait for next Wednesday.

I am a nuts and bolts guy. All this fluff isn't my style.

Glad the storyline guys got thrown a bone though.

After what happened on the shadowrun side of CGL, i'd rather see them keeping their hands out of computer games at least . . One less line they can **** up . .

As a long time Battletech player (as long as Mr.Bills acutally) I'm well aquainted with his love of the game....the pictures makes me think he's a Librarian for a biker gang tho...

Great! A long and substantial interview with a guy who's clearly an established authority on the lore, the board game, and on the video games. Hes loves what he does and appreciates the universe from a fan's point of view. Hes another indication that the game is in great hands.

At first I was completely enthralled with the fact they have him on board. After that my emotions went haywire with the comment of "doing something you love" since I don't have the ability or the opportunity to do what I love. And then right back to enthralled with his story of how he got into the field.

Good on ya mate.

It was a great read, but I agree with Red Beard, being a Stats / Nuts and Bolts / systems type guy, I'm really looking forward to next Wednesday

indeed looks like we are so far in good hands

also he said something about really wanting to include melee. So smell that? it's the smell of burning electronics and blood as i pull my axemans hatchet out of someone cockpit.

The number of times Randall talked about BattleTech lore, and how important it was, definitely made me smile.

After the interview, I did a search for Randall on Sarna.net.... *mind boggles* Wow. :)

Not sure if you saw the picture of one of the dev's desks, but he had a few of the rulebook/sourcebooks stacked on it. :)
