I've asked Dave about questions on MW5, and he answered, so it should be no problem to answer about this one :>

And that's fine, I don't always wanna talk about balance.... maybe I wanna post some ani- wait, I got Reso for that Posted Image

he answered MW5 questions? EEEK. Can we get a taste, or was it special classified info only?

It's in the MechWarrior Academy. Lemme grab a quote of it:

Hmm... That would work.

Mechs can't be dynamically loaded (don't ask), but a checkbox in the Academy menu to include a drop deck could substitute your mechs for those lined up on the mechswapper platforms. A nice time saver.

Not going to be high on anyone's priority list anytime soon, but a good solution that works within the technical limitations.

I'm happy to keep an eye on things in this forum, but remember I'm on MW5 now - and the Academy is considered "good enough" for the moment.

I know this is a longshot but....

Is the map in the Harebrained Schemes Game Demo the same base as the one in the Alpha we saw for MechWarrior 5?

View PostDave Forsey, on 14 March 2017 - 02:29 PM, said:

No. The MechCon demo level was a testing scenario and not meant to directly represent any particular mission at any particular date or location (and definitely not a first or tutorial mission). Hairbrained did give us a geometry for the Manticore tank and missile vehicle.

to put it short, I asked if the Battletech demo map was the same one used in the MW5 Mercs Alpha demo; he said no, but they used Hairbrained's Manticore models and missile vehicle that's seen when the shadowhawk exits the mechbay.

But yes, it is indeed a good sign. I had said previously awhile back that they need to be more forward in communication by going to the forums or reddit - if this is it, early signs of it, and if you're reading this devs, please, do post here more. As much as we seem bitter at times, we do like seeing you guys around. It shows that you do care about our opinions, and we would like to hear more.

Hey...2 posts on the Forums since Mid March? That's what... 2 more than Russ? :P

Id rather pgi employes work than post. But i was told there are jobs where an employee is paid to post and interact with the community.

He speaks against "Homogenizing" the mechs in a question about hardpoint inflation and engine caps.

Quote

So rather than looking to homogenize the entire ‘Mech line up, we would rather go the route where each ‘Mech does have perks and drawbacks to the core design that are made up in other ways through the core game mechanics.

Then he says this:

Quote

We then focus on data around Tier 1 and Tier 2 metrics to compile an expected performance curve that we track along a per weight class level which creates an overall “range” that we like to keep the ‘Mechs operating within to ensure that ‘Mechs of similar tonnage / weight classes remain relatively even choices against other ‘Mechs within their respective weight brackets.

Maybe it is just me but I think not want to homogenize and wanting to make all choices in a weight class equal are a little mutually exclusive.

I'm not disagreeing with making all the heavies comparable to each other, I would very much like a DRG to be as useful a choice for a match as a TBR, I know that is never going to happen but it is a nice thought.

What I do disagree with is the line in the sand where they wont increase engine caps or hardpoints, some mechs are desperate for them.

I thought I'd mention it here instead of making my own thread.

All in all I am VERY HAPPY that this interview was done and I am excited to see so many PGI staff commenting in this thread. This game is sorely lacking in communication, the only thing that

Given the nature of Mr. Forst's post of late, I don't believe the intent or goal is to "interact with the community" so much as it is to simply mock both it and its desire for that "interaction". I could be wrong though.

You have read at least one. ;)
That apparently means you've now read more of the forums than the rest of PGI, according to popular opinion. *Shrugs*

Of course, whether you guys are actually missing anything, well that's a whole nother story.
