I am just an observer, an outsider if you will but why on earth would it make any difference to PGI how big the team roster is?

My guess? If they have 33% bigger rosters, then when it comes to buying plane tickets, meals, hotel rooms, etc. at the very end, they have 33% more costs.

That's not true though. They only flew 8 per team last year (a couple add'l EmP guys came on their own dime, but PGI only paid for 8/team).

Agree with OP, this was frustrating news. 12 man limit darn near killed us and we were pretty hard-core. It ruined lots of casual teams. 16 should be the obvious answer, IMO.

I'm not a comp player but agree with raising the reserves limit due to experience with MW4 play in leagues. We aren't professional gamers and real life takes precedent. With a high number of reserves, it allows teams to make sure they can participate and field members in a non-professional environment.

To top it off, having only 12 members for a 8 person team in a non-professional environment is cutting is very close to teams being able to compete or not. The only reason things like Counterstrike teams are able to compete with 5 members is because all 5 are dedicated pro gamers.

Having 1 backup members for each active member is a reasonable request in a non-professional environment. I offer my support for this proposal as someone with former non-pro Mechwarrior league experience.

Has PGI ever tracked a comp team's activity?

I bet you find that even while the top tier teams are more dedicated, you will unlikely find the same 8 people playing together at least 3 to 4 days in a week for a minimum of an hour each.

The math literally disagrees with PGI, ontop of the low turnout/dropout and frustration those units have... which results in actual burnouts, even probably for segments of those same comp teams.

Apparently not learning what failed last year is a form of Lostech.
