I know a topic or two has been done on new tech however I have come up with I think an interesting way of approaching the subject by focusing on one existing chassis per day.
Rules for Topic
1 - Each day around 12pm EST (9am PST / 4pm UTC), a chassis is chosen by anyone (doesn't have to be me) for discussion how Civil War tech could change it, prefer focusing on the worst of the worst to see if those bottom tier Mechs actually get a bump with new Skill Tree slated for May and new CW tech for summer. First person to post closest to that time picks the chassis.
2 - In addition, new variants from 3050-3072 can be suggested. Ignore any variant that can be built on an existing one.
How to find possible variants
A - Go to this site.
B - Type name of chassis in Search Box in upper right and hit Enter/click orange button.
C - When list comes up, click the Intro title on right side column so earliest year is on top. Look down list to find potential new variants between 3505-3072.
D - Go to this site.
E - On left side, enter chassis name in Search box and hit Enter/click Search.
F - On chassis page, scroll to variants, find the ones you found in Step C, check their loadouts. If they can be built on an existing or other new variant or use Tech not in game with CW update, skip.
Today's Subject as an example
The Vindicator
The Mech that makes Mechwarriors say, "I'm not driving that for 100 billion CB even if drunk and your Atlas pushes me in the cockpit!" While still suffering from low hardpoints (though one potential new variant may not), what will happen to it? If a 1AA maxes JJs, it can jump as well as a Scat with the SIB second and the others third.
Possible new tech for use:
LFE (LXL?)
ERML / ERSL
variety of PPCs maybe the LPPC gets a 3 on GH
MRMs, SRMs and RLs
1X gets new ACs and MGs
unknown if other tech worthwhile
Existing variants
VND-1AA, 250 LFE minimum for max truedubs, max JJs if wanting to get height for ranged work. "The Jumpy Vindy"
VND-1R, 225-235 LFE minimum depending on build for 9 truedubs.
VND-1X, 225-235 LFE minimum depending on build for 9 truedubs. Tied for the Vindicator stepchild with the Hero.
VND-SIB - 250 LFE minimum for max truedubs, CB bonus, can make more use of Missiles due to extra hardpoint but less Energy. Tied for the Vindicator stepchild with the 1X.
Possible new variants
VND-4L, hardpoints of a SIB though maybe in different spots, 3E and 2M. Second M is for the 6L (see below). Has ECM and Stealth Armor stock.
VND-5LP, PGI version of 5L minus the Triple Strength Myomer; no M or B, just 7 Energy hardpoints explaing why PGI should make their own of it, 3 LT, 3 RT, 1 RA. New side torso hardpoints are of unknown placement high, middle or low, if high enough would have value.
Variants not needed and reasons:
VND-1SIC, SIB without CB bonus.
VND-3L, can be built on 1AA/1R.
VND-5L, needs Triple Strength Myomer, suggested PGI replacement just to have those hardpoints please.
VND-6L, needs Triple Strength Myomer, similar to 4L so added 6L second Missile slot to 4L.
Overall I see the Vindicator becoming more of a ranged fighter with ERML, variety of PPCs and either MRM or RL maybe a bit of SRM. Already has a slim profile and is pretty jumpy with full JJs. If 5LP done and torso hardpoints are higher than arms, that and the 4L would have good use.
Side Question - should LPPCs (Light PPCs) have a GH of 3?

I was naively hoping LAC5s and caseless ammo would make it into the game. To make running 2XAC5 a possibility on the Vindicator.
As for LPPC 3 ghost heat. I could see that. 15 points of damage isn't too bad. But how would it work with regular PPCs? Would the ghost heat be separate? 3LPPC+2PPC?

Are Vindicators' STs that easy to isolate, so much so they need LFE to further reduce their firepower? I personally do not know cause I do not pilot garbage.

A good question. I killed one recently in my flames viper, with a botched side torso assassination.

Yes, vindicator is fairly easy to neuter if it has an XL, but the weight savings of the XL are what make it remotely playable.. LFE will take away its firepower and then it'll just be a bad mech that takes slightly longer to kill than it normally does.
Shocking, how the LFE doesn't solve anything

Don't get me wrong, I love Vindicators. But it will still suffer from lack of speed, bad hardpoints, bad hitboxes and get busted open like a pinata at the slightest provocation. So what you describe is the lipstick on the pig.
Now if the Vindicator only had to go against Vindicators you would be on to something.

Mist Lynx
Possible new tech: new lasers, MGs, ATM
Existing variants: will get ignored for new ones or pod mixing, maybe the C arm gets used.
Possible new variants:
MLX-F, ECM + 5 Energy
MLX-G, 4 Energy + 8 Ballistics
MLX-H, 3 Energy + 1 Missile + AMS, last 2 in unique LA, will be ignored for others.
MLX-P, 4 Energy in each arm, total 8
Variants not needed:
MLX-E, made from mixing pods of others.
