Cockpit Location For Newer Mechs

Is there some place where I can find out where I have to aim to headshot the new mechs that's been released since 2016? Better yet, is there anywhere I can practice in-game like that basic simulation mode with the Atlas, Centurion, Cicada, Commando, Cataphract and Catapult?

I do not think people had mapped up the more recent mechs, such as the Supernova.

I don't think there's anything worth risking a stray AC or PPC shot to the head for.

but do you then forum rage when someone "one shots" you with a consumable?

I think I have a few mechs that are down to 14 or 16. Thing is, aside from on e match recently where a person landed on shot pure headshots on several of us in quick succession, I really can't recall the last time I was headshot killed. That said... I do take some degree of head damage with some regularity. So, yeah, while I may not carry 18 on every robot, I'm still pretty leery about shaving more than a handful of pts.

I can't name anyone specific, but lots did, ergo arty and airstrike got reduced because apparently optimised builds have little of no head armour..

Then don't be mad when you're headshot by an ERPPC or an AC/20 (only 2 weapons I've been able to headshot people with reliably).

Which is dumb. The issue wasnt the arty, it was people mim/maxing their builds.

Almost always full armor on all mechs, there are some troll builds and special tonnage needs mechs that have some head armor reduced but never less then 13 (lucky 13 is the magic number for me)
If i'm really stuck for tonnage i'll skim armor depending on class and speed and use.
TLDR, No I never have head armor removed. That is just asking for it.
You must have a strong head to win matches.

The thing is even if people know you are lacking head armour, good luck on trying to capitalise on that unless the person in question is in a maruder or something perhaps.

Nope, hasn't happened. I can't remember the last time I lost my cockpit. Maybe in a 1v1? lol

The old old old strikes used to headshot you if you had full head armour all the time. It wasn't really about the people who stripped cockpit armour, because nobody could really afford to with those strikes being the way they were at the time.

What's weird was how I don't believe I was ever cockpited by an arty strike, except when my head had already been significantly damaged. And most of those posting in the forums were people who had been stripping their heads. And even folk like McGRal, IIRC were mostly raging over death by RNGeezus... because I guess, Arty is supposed to be firing spitwads or something.
Yeah... not fun, yadda yadda.

Well, also, you didn't play comp at the time. That was also back when you could equip two strikes. So every comp match have up to 16 strikes going off per side, in an 8v8 match, and every one of them took like 25% off your cockpit. Eventually, somebody hit the lottery and took an otherwise fresh mech out of the game. Which was pretty shjtty. But you had to abuse it, because you'd be at a disadvantage if you didn't.

Depending on the mech, I may take 1 or 2 armor off the head to add an extra point in the legs or arms, but otherwise I try to go near max armor as I can on all my mechs. a well placed gauss shot will instantly kill your head armor if you have 15 or less, meaning a second shot will instantly kill you. And with mechs like the Nigh Gyr running around with dual gauss loadouts, among many other mechs tending to run more ballistic mechs, its near suicidal going less that 16 armor on the head. I pilot a lot of heavy and assault mechs, which tend to have pretty large head hitboxes. I would say 16 armor is the lowest you can go in a head slot without opening yourself up to an easy death.
