Not so fast with that. Lower your engine rating and you'll be a bit slower but still pretty freakin' fast and you can do it just fine. SDR-5K
The two heat sinks are there merely to simulate the extra tonnage that the HMGs would add.

Where is the ammo?

Aw ****, knew I was forgetting something. I'm not even sure how many tons of ammo an HMG will need. I'll try one ton per 2 HMGs though. SDR-5K
Eh... not as great as when I forgot the ammo...

Sorry, but if the two heatsinks are just placeholders for the extra weight of the HMG, you're still missing two more heatsinks, because the XL220 only has 8 inside...

Double what you need for std MGs, and that should do you.
That said, eh, can't say a single LPL is a word beater to begin with.

only way it's really going to work... and that realyl requires H-MGs to be markedly more effective than std MGs. Mind you, if they are 50% more effective... it's like having 6 MGs with worse ammo consumption, and I can tell you from my Arrow, 6 MGs still don't impress.

Heavy machine gun Spider might be nifty for those mad men who decide to bring MGs over a LPL.

What the game needed was weapons that light Mechs could mount to make them more fun
And useful, this would boost light Mech numbers
They opened the new weapons to all Mech so there will be no reason to take a heavy MG
ACH
I can just take my 4 mg Hellbringer into battle (just an example)
I predict a ton of tears and crying about the new weapons
But at the end of the day they won't effect your stats much

That's the 5K. It's quirked similarly to the LCT-1V -- that is, absurdly well. 50% Laser CD and -25% Laser Duration. That one LPL fires quickly enough to nearly match a pair of them, and you're carrying it on one of the most mobile 'mechs in the game.
The MGs are and always have been a secondary concern, not just because they're a joke, but because they take away from tonnage that could be used on a bigger engine or more JJs.
