That's a could-be maybe. We don't know what they were in "preparation" for. We have no idea how any of those weapons are going to function. And most of the quirks on those mechs that were being nerfed were all weapon system specific. AC/5 rate of fire isn't going to make your MRMs any better. That's like saying the Kodiak is OP, so we'll nerf the Ice Ferret in preparation for the Dark Age patch in 2037.

I only really paid attention to the mechs I play where they were all the general quirks "Ballistics cooldown +x%, Energy range +y%" that got nerfed. Possibly the nerfs of specific weapon quirks is to get people to try out different loadouts and no longer rely on that singular weapon system that had a ****ton of amazing quirks.

No expectations, just a couple hopes:
  • No respec cost. It only serves to punish players for experimenting.
  • Per-chassis Mech XP consolidation to help us transition from the rule-of-3. I'd rather reduce my stable to 1 mastered variant per chassis than be stuck with 3 variants ~2/3 mastered.

I don't like being locked into choices because of quirks either, but a lot of IS mechs are only good because of their quirks. You take those away and they're garbage tier again. I'll take 1 viable build over no viable builds. And since quirkless clan mechs with a plethora of competitive builds are only going to go up, why would you cripple IS more than it already is? Sure, we're getting new tech in a couple of months, but that doesn't mean I want to spend those months in agony while Night Gyrs and Kodiaks murder what used to be my decent IS choices.
