Mechwarrior - Legacies - Rolling Storm
by Timothy Seals

IF PGI wants music similat to that from the old days of MW2, I think he is PGI's best bet.
To me he's to Mechwarrior-related music what Alexander Iglesias is for mechs.

If you are not familiar with him, check out his -> youtube-page.
Or don't, who am I to judge?

On that note:
What yre YOU listening to while playing MWO?

And part of me would like if MW5 missions are set more in alien-like maps like Vitric Vorge and Sulfurous Rift rather than in earth-like environment (River City and Forest Colony).

They would fit the music nicely.

I think Timothy Seal is pretty legendary amongst the fans. Though 2 of his remix I like the original better, temper edge and umber wall, adding all those fancy instrumentals kinda distract from the distinct beet.

As for having him on board for MW5... I'm sure someone of his talent is not waiting for work. He's probably employed somewhere already. I don't think MWO music is bad per se. The newest additional to the wait screen has a pretty tempo from calm to a height feel, and is in fact, one of my favorite mechlab/wait area music of all the MW games.

But the in battle music is mostly forgettable. It's like... a dish prepare with only salt and some pepper. It needs distinct beet and signatures. A dish with salt and some pepper has a great taste for intro... but it's not lasting. You need some sugar... some aromatic spice... some vinegar... anything that enrich a plate of food.

I hope PGI can find someone like that for MW5, cause a single player game means that it's going to be more cinematics, meaning... music is HUGELY important, more so than arena shooter.

(Cause a good music can take you into the story, and give depth to the narratives)

I don't know if PGI is really thinking that much on a limited budget though.

PS the most cinematic scores for video game has to be Hans Zimmer for Modern Warfare 2 IMO. But that guy is a like a mega uber star that does music for blockbuster movies. PGI needs like a super creative indie guy. untapped talent somewhere...

I find it much harder to get into a game about big stompy Robots with Battletech's government vs government wars when were fighting on Alien planets, its about the time I expect a giant worm to flop out of a rock and devour my Mech, instead of walk around the corner into a lance of Battlemechs.

Id much rather they focus on making MW5 in cities, out lying areas, highways, rolling hills, rather then random rocks that honestly, look more like a Diamond mine then anything...

During the Urban event I actually had Keith Urban's Ripcord album playing in the background. Gone Tomorrow Here Today's Intro actually paced well with an Urban mech at 94kph.

After so many solo matches of getting rolled due to team mates not pulling together and focusing, out comes the Hunchback and Josh Turner and Punching bag.

Other wise just the in game music.

Considering the universe, timeline, mechs and style of Mechwarrior single player games I imagine a music that would be a mix of 65 Days of Static(they did the No Man's Sky music - **** game, but what a masterpiece of a soundtrack) and Ninja Tracks for MW5 - epic classic, electro but also sometimes hard guitars.

Ninja Tracks

65 Days of Static:

I do not listen very often to music while playing MWO, Voice Com is hard to understand while you are listening to music. but I guess at the moment if I would, it would be the No Man's Sky soundtrack Posted Image. Well after a lot of losses I guess I would change it to this:

We can also have habitable alien planets.

If you want 'Mech battles around large structures, they can also be set near military bases.

Not entirely on topic but since everyone is putting music, here is one that is good for listening to while playing MechWarrior maybe, as the video shows. I have not decided if I will add it to my play list yet or not because not entirely happy with the words but maybe I don't get it yet. Anyway found this just today while on the Kenshi forums, very well done anyway.

Got to see a bit of it because it starts off different.
