Is there any way of changing the loadout on any of the trial mechs?? Also is it possible to get a new mech??

Im sure that i read somewhere that after your first 25 battles, you get access to another mech that you can play around with yourself and change it to the way you want.

I've done 25 battles but as yet i have nothing.

Am i just barking up the wrong tree here??

Sorry, but there is no way to change the loadout of the trial mechs. When you have enough in-game currency (called c-bills) you can use those to buy most mechs. You earn c-bills after every battle. You can also use real money to buy mechs. In order to do this, you need to buy MC. Most people try to avoid spending real money to buy mechs that are available with c-bills. It boils down to how much time do you want to spend in trial mechs before you can have a mech that you can customize. Note that there are some mechs that cannot be bought with c-bills. These mechs require MC, and have names such as Deaths Knell, Boars Head, Ilya M, Dragon Slayer, Misery, Fang, Flame, et al..

The thing you read was for your first 25 matches you get a HUGE bonus to C-Bill earnings to help you buy your own first mech.
You can totally do that, go to the "Mechlab" in the game client and go to "Owned Mechs" on the left side. you should see 4 empty slots for mechs, click "buy mech" and you're good to go. Before you do that though it's highly recommended that you read some guides or get some advice from players you trust so you don't make some expensive mistakes.
The way to see if you can get the weapons, engine, armor, and so on into the mech you want with the C-bills you have is to use this tool

Some further tips for you:

1. Have 2M CBill extra on hand when you do buy your first Mech. You'll need this to immediately pay for two highly-advisable upgrades - Double Heat Sinks, and Endosteel Structure. The former will make a huge difference to your Mech's ability to sustain heat and dissipate it quickly. The latter will free up extra tons for you to use on additional weapons and ammo.

2. Why you buy your Mech, immediately upgrade its armor to maximum in the Mech Lab. Most Mechs don't have maxxed armour when you buy them. This won't cost you any CBills, though it will add to your weight. It will significant increase the damage you can take in a match.

Once you understand heat, armor and weight tradeoffs better, you'll be able to tweak the above for further incremental optimisation depending on your specific Mech and loadout. But for now, plan on needing DHS, ES and max armour.

No, you cannot change trial mechs.

You just have to endure them till you can buy your own. It is pretty much a universal consensus that trial mechs have awful configurations, which is why few people play them by choice.

Usually true, although this round's spider is freaking awesome. A little laser action to burn through the armor, and a ****-ton of MG spamming to crit out anything of value to your opponents. Oh, and a bunch of speed & armor (which is really unusual for a trial) to boot.

I actually "accidentally" took the trial Spider out last night (accidental, insofar as I was checking to see what the trial mechs were and then dropped without switching back to one of my mechs.)

Just so happened to drop on the new map, and as much as I suck at Lights, it was kind of fun zipping around.

But I felt so dirty afterward. Stupid Spiders. LOL :D

This is related. When at the Mechbay, choose "Owned mechs" There will be 4 empty slots each reading "Buy Mech." Then look at the below.

Q: "Why does it look like mechs can only be bought with real money?"
A: "When you first select Buy Mech, they list the 'premium' mechs which are regular mechs with experience bonuses or hero mechs with cbill bonuses and unique looks and hardpoints available for also known as 'Real Money'.

On the right hand are 5 mech icons. The star means premium. L is light, M is medium, H is heavy, and A is assault. The price is the in-game price.

Is there anyway to delete a trial mech or better yet sell them?

No...you cannot sell them because you don't actually own them. They change every two weeks or so...

"Is there anyway to delete a trial mech or better yet sell them?"

Truth be told I wish they would stay in the "Trial" section and be separated from the rest of my mechs. I've got 103 mechs + 4 trials. Oh how I hate that they are mixed in as when I hit config I accidentally get the "buy" dialog.

^^^^ Would love to not have to see the trials unless I want to.

On that note... I wish I could organize my mechs, period. I'd like all my Phracts to be next to each other, my Hunchies next to each other, etc. Right now they seem to be in a totally random order and kinda annoying.

Mine are next to each other. But champions and heroes are separated and yes that is annoying. Same with founders and phoenix.

Sometimes I log in and they are - sometimes I log in and they are not (far more common for them not to be in the "purchasable" section though)

Other than Grid Iron and the Founder's Hunch, all my Hunchbacks are next to each other. Phracts too, except the Muromets.

I'm at 1280x720 (for vids). At higher resolutions they could be anywhere.

1980x1020 (or something like that?)

Usually it is the thunderbolts/jagers (but not the catapults?!), and stalker/battlemasters that get shuffled up.

At that resolution I get too many pictures, not enough substance, and it puts me off. There's so many things I'd do differently with so many things here..

Much lower and my PC (or more likely monitor) starts stretching the images weird. :)

I looked into why once - but as fixing it would have required adjusting stuff for every different game I played, I just let it run what it wants. ^_^
