My screenshake brings all the boys to the yard.

I like the walk, the hardpoints and the quirks.

Needs swole acceptance decals.

Like the war horn. Good job whoever was in charge of that. Will enjoy having that in my collection.

Seems like a big CT sponge. Had both enemies cored fairly quickly with minimal damage to side torsos. Plus, seemed to die pretty quickly to a side torso damage/overheat considering all the people complaining about the "godlike" structure quirks.

A beautiful mech, and a nice addition to BT Lore, but my wallet is closed and locked within a beta-adamantium safe with a complex riddle code system. I unfortunately forgot this code, so nobody is getting to that wallet!

It does look like it has easily isolated torso parts, but they are each fairly narrow. It actually looks like it spreads damage incredibly well so long as you are in motion, but there was a lot of face-staring going on due to the types of load-outs being used (dakka).

Which clan mech is the roughneck supposed to be counterweight to? Like marauders are timberwolf counterweight... what is the roughneck?

I'd say the Loki - same tonnage, similar silhouette, similar height for arm mounts, decently high torso mounts.

But it doesn't have Loki's signature ECM (which is the whole point of the chassis) nor Ebon Jag's silleoute... it still sound like a slightly inferior mech to these two clan mechs...

There are two things this mech will excel at. SRM/AC Brawling, and Large Laser/ER sniping.

It sure has some nice structure and weapon quirks, which neither the HBR or EBJ have. Not to mention the fantastic hardpoints locations on the Roughneck will be hella fun to run ppcs methinks. It will be a nice addition to the IS stable.

What I found more interesting was the opinion shift about needing to drop the skills on it to make it more playable.

Started to make me wonder how much some of us take the extra speed, cooldown etc for granted on a Mastered mech vs the original stock version's functionality.

Wonder if that will change with the skill tree / battlefield role concepts ?
