nice p2w mech you released.
gotta please the golden whales before they cancel their preorders, right?
because who gives a shite about this game being balanced, the important thing is just to sell MechPacks™, right?

Yeah, I was piloting my Kodiak 3/Marauder IIC and I felt really bad when I came across a Roughneck (I didn't). Posted Image

TBF, you can put any mech in place of Roughneck in that sentence.

It's not better than many of the existing heavies put there (worse than more than a few too)... its annoying that I need the reinforcement pack, hero or wait for cbill release to have a mech with all the high pew pew pew/wub wub wub... oh well

Ok. I haven't played today but I do think 10 armor and 20 structure on CT of 65 ton mech is too much as durability quirks. I'd understand it if the Roughneck has bad hitboxes, but it has decent hitboxes. Offensive quirks are sub par, in return.

Guess this is PGI's way of making it feel like a tough industrial mech?

I see what you are saying, on initial look, it feels strong. However, please bear in mind it has zero agility quirks and is only really viable with XL, and limited builds with that.

A majority of the more powerful builds require you use a 260 or so XL, which only really gives about 64KPH before speed tweak. So without agility quirks, its more of a tank like (for a 65t at least) slow brawler, as i think was intended. Its certainly not going to be winning any meta mech build placements.

The 3A is the only real energy boat, but even that is no better than many other IS heavy/mediums that can boat energy weapons. It also has no JJ's either to maximise the shoulder mounts.

Essentially, if you took away its RELATIVE tankiness, then it would be quite literally DoA.

EDIT: Typo (thanks Athom)

Lol, quoted for truth.

Love how people still boast about killing things, especially 35 ton lighter things, in a 68KPH clan 100 ton mech, that has 4 shoulder mounted UAC's.

If it didn't have the durability, it would be mediocre since its offensive capabilities are pretty middle-of-the-road and its geo is really easy to isolate.

FIFY.

And I agree. Not only was the structure/armor quirks designed to give it the tanky, industrial feel, but it is to make it so it isn't outright outclassed by anything and everything in the similar tonnage area. It just doesn't have the weapon quirks, speed/agility, or amazing harpoints that brings it out of the, "pretty good" area and into "meta" status. It just seems like a tankier but slower Shadow Hawk.

I think they got the quirks mostly right. The only one I would change is the addition of a 10-15% ballistic velocity quirk on the RGH-1A; I would trade that 20% energy cooldown in a heartbeat for that, it just works better with that variant.

On standard variants (the pack i own) i notced only C has quirks for high mounts:

A has ballistic high mounts, quirks are energy and missile.

B has missile high mounts, quirks are for ballistic and energy.

Only the C has Ballistic High mount and ballistic quirk, but is half the efficency (10%)

I think devs knows about his defensive great bonuses, and tuned down offensive quirks for balance.

Is a good mech? Yes. (i mean, their first creation should be more than mediocre to avoid a revolution)
Is an OP mech? No.
So i don't see issue with the Roughneck ATM.

So the roughneck is a little tough. Big deal. It has nothing significant in the way of weapon quirks or manuverability and it cant boat anything overmuch. If it had all that, it would be OP, but they did a good job restraining themselves on making it too awesome.

I killed enough of them last night, but yes, they're tough nutters.

The Roughneck is going to be available for CBills in a few months. What exactly is P2W about that?

Hardly saw any of these last night, so much for sales.

Only one guy had praise for it.

They still died like other Mechs.

Not seeing the issue but I still have to track what loadouts people use.

Been known for some time you P2T, not P2W.

I'll go back to abusing the 4 Mechs I bought with CB from the Easter Sale.

I feel like there is a faction of people out there just itching like they've got Poison Ivy to throw the P2W tag at PGI for anything and everything. I've seen someone call Warhorns P2W before for goodness sake.

Was the OP killed by a stick zombie roughneck head laser? That could have been the trigger....
