It made sense how ever, as once the IS and Clans are more contact with each other, the IS learned the actual names... and in some cases, the IS designation became more common to hear even in the Clans than the official name.....

Most of the Clan mechs encountered after the initial invasion do not have Inner Sphere designations because by that point the Houses had enough contact with the Clans and intelligence assets in play to learn their proper names before or soon after seeing them on the battlefield.
