Have not yet gotten to play the Incursion mode because it gets voted down every time it appears.
Why are people afraid to play it?
PGI put time and resources into this in an effort to give the game more diversity.
We all know there is a high percentage of 'trigger happy' players that aren't very interested in the team aspect of this game, but I have to believe that there are enough team conscious players that would enjoy the challenge.
I would like to encourage all mechwarriors to give it a try.
Who knows, you might like it.

hate it
it, completely fails to introduce the need to go for the chargers and only succeeds in punishing you if you do decide to split and run for those... you will either get separated and killed at a pick up location or when you get back to base and find yourself alone while the other team 'bum-rushes' it.
And I can't even blame the players in this case... the only feasible thing to do is to actually murder-ball the base. Why even bother and instead play the mode where you don't have to wary about all these shenanigans and just enjoy shooting mechs (which is by the why everyone even play this game)
After trying this mode I can only say that I would rather play escort till the end of times then do more incursion

Thanks for the honest feedback, SS.
I guess I'm one of the minority on this issue.
But I have not had a chance to try Incursion out yet, so maybe I'll join your 'Say Nay to Incursion' team after I do.
Time (or PGI) will tell.
Peace out.

The core of the problem is there is absolutely no reason to do the mission objectives.
In contrary...doing so endangers your win.
Like conquest its far more effective to kill your enemy as quickly as possible and then cap/destroy their base...or even just rush their base on big maps if you wish to troll them.
There is no mission progress.
For example:
I.retrive a fuel cell to
II.empower the flack cannon to be able to
III.destroy the enemy dropship aircover to be able to
IV.enter their base to destroy their command center.
Optionales could now be deploying counter messures or radar scanners.
That would be a mission with clear cut consecutive objectives you have to achieve to get the job done.
Enemy has to hinder you wich gives them too an agenda to play for.
But as any mode before the current incursion mechanics are just an aliby for skirmishing that infact punish your team if you try to do it.

Looks like everyone has a different idea about Incursion.
Finally got to play 2 missions (since the new challenge is luring others into this game mode), and I feel it has some merits.
Primarily, it appears to encourage people to let up on the trigger in order to achieve objectives and help the team, overall.
My biggest complaint would be, there is a little too much to do (aside from fighting).
Maybe PGI could simplify the strategy, just a bit, and allow our trigger-happy teammates to warm their weapon barrels a little more??
End result - more fun in general, less *****'in, and a new game mode that will stand the test of time.
Happy Meching, all

the bottom line is that we don't want a game mode.. no1 asked for a new game mode. we want a working CW, more maps, continuous improvement of game mechanics like IK and so on...
I could never understand how and why PGI does not get it that the core of CW is not in a game mode (which I am sure why they wasted their time on incursion) but rather lies in a power play on the global map

I would support this if you would have said that we do not need game modes on a match to match level.
What this game needs are objectives.
But not qp style cap the flag bull....rather multiplayer missions on a larger scale.

Thanks to all who participated in this discussion.
I heartily agree with TB about objectives within a larger multiplayer environment.
That would, at least allow for following the battletech cannon to some small extent.
However MWO was not designed for that, hence it seems their only option to retain interest in the game is this type of creativity.
I personally would like to see some single player missions with objectives, as stated before, or maybe an opportunity for some one-on-one contests against equally skilled players within this limited environment.
NOTE: this will never happen due to limitations in PGI resources assigned to this project.
That being said, I have played several Incursion games yesterday, some were tedious, as both teams attempted to utilize the new features, but did not communicate well.
Some were fast and devastating, if one team was well coordinated, as the other team fell upon their heels in disarray.
But I was fortunate enough to have experienced a couple of matches where both teams worked well together, and I must say it was invigorating (win or loose) to have participated in.
There was less 'death-balling' and more tug and pull between the teams, and when it came down to the final moments, with only a few mechs left standing, we were all cheering each other on.
What's the word - - - - FUN!
Isn't that the goal of gaming after all?
Bottom line - that type of match would be rare due to the trigger-happy, self achievement nature of many players,
I was just lucky to fall into a couple of team orientated matches.
But I hope all mechwarriors get the chance to experience it sooner than later.

No one seems to murder-ball in Incursion. Right from the start, too many people split up and go every whichway until the ENEMY decides to charge in.
Drives me nuts!

well from the matches I've been in at least it seems to promote actual team movement instead of the usual camping routine. whether that will last or not who knows.

make the dropships shoot the base and BAM you have a reason to go for power cells... and to fight for them
