Why did they remove it back then?
Why did they remove knocking over light mechs and light mechs falling down too?
Ammo explosion effects? PGI claims they never did.
Knocking over mechs (of all sizes) was removed for four reasons:
1) Knocking over an Atlas crashed the match for over a month at one point. Supposedly because the server-side interpreted its ragdoll to be 10 times its actual size prior to fixing it.
2) Complaints about entire light teams playing football and tackling everyone.
3) Dragons, through an attempt to maintain the design quirk of an improved gyro, was given the interpretation that it weighed 100 tons when calculating collisions. Now slap a 400 engine into it and start going over 127 kph at 100 tons and see how far you can send Any and Every mech through the air.
4) This all came to a head when several players trolled Paul as a way of showing how easily the knockover system could be abused due to bad design. They kept the Lead Designer knocked over again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again..
Supposedly they were going to be taken away temporarily until fixed and Paul even wrote a plan including how the new collisions would be calculated...
And then all we got was a BB alert instead of what we were after.
LOL, this reminds me of the color blindness issue where those of us who are color blind have been begging PGI to allow us to change the HUD colors (or at least the targeting reticule's colors).
Y'know what PGI's brilliant solution was to resolving color blindness issues? It had nothing to do with color...
Now the reticule can change shape when you hit your target!
At least that's what I'm told it does. Since I can't see the f'ing thing, I don't really know...

Immersion? That's loss tech bruh! Buy a mech pack.
Immersion died in Closed Beta when Russ started chasing the elusive Esport Unicorn. The two are a apparently pretty exclusive, judging by the agendas pushed around these forums.
