Situation: In competitive, pin point front loaded damage weapons (PPFLD) such as gauss, some SRM variants, inner sphere AC, and PPC are favoured over other weapon implementations due to their deliverance of all damage all at once to a single component.
Possible solution: Glancing hits. More specifically, if you hit the center of a component or some wiggle room around it, then the full damage is dealt, but if you hit off center or the angle is too high, then the damage is spread to the two nearest components to the shot landing site instead.
Example: 2 Gauss 2 ER PPC kodiak, Vs Atlas
Sitation 1: Face to face, Kodiak shoots dead center CT, 50 damage to CT.
Situation 2: Face to face, Kodiak shoots between CT and left ST. 25 damage to CT and 25 damage to left ST.
Situation 3: Face to face, Atlas twists right suddenly when kodiak fires, shot lands at a high angle between right ST and CT. 15 damage to right ST and 35 damage to CT.
Situation 4: Face to face, Kodiak shoots at the very edge of the atlas's right arm for some reason and hits with all four shots. 25 damage to right arm and 0 damage to nothing else.
