With the new system, people who buy packs with multiples of the same chassis are left in the dark.

As you have piloted a mech chassis, you should be able to equip nodes unlocked on another variant. As compensation, unlocking certain skills early in the tree that every variant would take could be made more expensive.

This helps collectors or fans of a specific mech chassis, or if people buy multiples of the same variant. You'll still need to collect XP for equipping certain nodes, but at least not having to unlock them again while you've already mastered that chassis would be very preferable.
