The new respec costs seems to be small and they are small if you only own a few Mechs which you play often. If you own many Mechs they sum up to ridiculous amounts after each balance patch. This forces people to focus on a few mechs and discourages buying of any new Mechs because they become a burden after each balance patch. This is bad for the players because PGI takes away the fun of experimenting with new Mechs and new builds and this is bad for PGI because they earn less money.
So please PGI give us free respec at least after each patch.

Wrong respec cost encourages to own many same variant mechs so you do not have to respec.
I have <300 mechs
IF there is major quirk change or balance stuff in a patch then I agree that we should get free respec.

that low XP cost is a small XP-sink which makes it slightly useful to convert XP from one mech to GXP for other mechs which require XP.
outside of that, the respec cost is easily taken care of actually playing few games.
You should be able to change half your build after 3-4 games if you were at 0 XP before.

A free respec after a major balance change or re-quirkening is a good idea. However, the respec issue is not really that big a deal IMO because you are not going to do a total respec. You may change some weapon skill choices or something but most of the skills will stay the same due to a Mechs hardpoints and configuration. It is not that big a deal to change from lasers to erPPCs for example. The exception might be taking an Omni-Mech and completely changing all the pods to go to another weapon type completely but even that would probably only mean respeccing 20 or so nodes. That would be 16,000 XP which is comparable to doing the basic skills on a Mech now. If you play the Mech much then you will probably have that much excess XP tied to the chassis anyway.

I see more people doing basically what we have now. They will specialize mechs and not really go back and change anything.
