Choose a Tree Title and stick with it. "Weaponry." "Operations." "Sensors."
Suggestion B: Rewrite the subtitles to meaningfully expand on the titles.
For example:
"Weaponry: Velocity, range, heat generation, and other attributes (of your 'mech's weapons systems)"
"Jump Jet Capabilities: Lift speed, heat generation, and direction (of your 'mech's jump jets)"
"Mech Operations: Ignition, heat management, and damage control"
"Information Warfare: Gather information; Deny it to the enemy"
"'Mech Mobility: Speed and agility for legs, torso, and arms"
"Auxiliary: Upgrade consumables and miscellaneous field aides"
Justification
Before we get into the nitty-gritty of balance values, can we please address the superfluous subtitles to the skill trees?
Let's take a look:
Firepower
• Weapons
Survival
• Armor Structure
Mobility
• Agility
Jump Jets
• Jump Capabilities
Operations
• 'Mech Operations
Sensors
• Sensor Systems
Auxiliary
• Miscellaneous
Rule #1 of titling and subtitling is that each level must contribute something different. These do not, because they are effectively interchangeable:
- "Firepower" can just as easily be called "Weapons"
- "Mobility" can just as easily be called "Agility"
- "Auxiliary" can just as easily be called "Miscellaneous"
- Do we need to specify "Mech Operations"? Is there any other sort of operations we might be talking about?
- and so forth
Suggestions above attempt to remedy this redundancy.
