I'm thinking primarily of needing to go through some ballistic nodes to pick up generic weapon nodes on 'Mechs that can only mount energy weapons. This should be easy enough to check for as BattleMechs have set hardpoints. If the tree is going to be arranged like that, these certainly shouldn't count against the 91 and ideally shouldn't cost anything either.

even if a mech as specific hardpoints, why should a use them? For example: the huginn has 4 balistics hardpoints usually used for 4 machine guns, but i've seen lots of ppl just removing them and put some extra tons of missile ammo there - if you not go through useless nodes, you'll get only 20 in the weapons tree and you can't get 12 nodes, without going through nodes you do not benefit at all

they need to rearrange the weapon skill tree so you dont have to go through useless nodes you dont need to get to nodes you do need

they did it on some of the other skill trees, either intentionally or by mistake

but they need to do it for all of them

The entire web is garbo. I don't get why things have to be so convoluted. We're all losing 12% CD modules, but you can't even get 12% if you hit every CD node, and CD nodes are all locked behind specific weapon nodes, meaning if you aren't using missile, ballistic, AND energy weapons your mech then you hit a useless node somewhere. I don't get why they have to be so spread out that you have to invest way too heavily in the tree either. Why guard good nodes with bad nodes? Why spread out like nodes? Why do anything you do at all, PGI?
