edit: there is also a trick of putting a green tint inside of the white hot interior of the beam to make it look like its really damaging your optical equipment.

Yeah, probably that.. noticeably thicker beam.. no need for them to have different color..
but Micro Lasers... that's an entirely new laser type, and since each laser type (small, medium, large) has it's own color, I say Micro Lasers should also have their own color..
I vote purple or orange.. just to make them distinctive..

Considering that on the visible spectrum, violet is actually the highest, whereas red is the lowest. The laser colors follow that trend.

But TBH if pulse lasers don't get their own colors I doubt micros or heavies will either.
They just need a long burning laser with high damage and tiny range... So I can pretend its a lightsaber...

Micros should because they are a size, not a class, and each size gets its own color per faction. Heavies are a class, not a size, so I expect nothing for them except thicker beams or something like that.

heavies will prbably have a bigger diameter, and the IS gets it's cyan ones too.
micro lasers may be thiner, like between regular laser and tag. But they are a new size class, so they need an own color. Maybe orange? (eve if that would be more logical to be ebtween small and medium) but there aren't many colors left that are distinquishable aside:
orange, pink, purple. And pink may not happen I guess.

Except the colors of lasers in the books were often quite different than they are in any of the previous MW PC games, including this one. So that's a bad precedent to follow.
In the books I remember medium lasers were often referred to as blue beams, where as blue is typically the color of large lasers in the games. While large lasers were often referred to as red beams, and red is typically small lasers in the games.

There's three types of Heavy Lasers, and two types of Micro Lasers, remember?

IS Standard lasers/ ER lasers
Beam thickness: medium/ standard
Small : Red
Medium: Green
Large: Blue
IS Pulse lasers
Beam thickness: medium/ standard
Small : Red
Medium: Green
Large: Blue
Clan Micro ER lasers
Beam thickness: thin
Small : Green
Medium: Blue
Large: Purple
Clan Micro pulse lasers
Beam thickness: thin
Small : Green
Medium: Blue
Large: Purple
Clan ER lasers
Beam thickness: medium/ standard
Small : Purple
Medium: Yellow
Large: Cyan, change to -> Orange, cyan is a tertiary color. Change it to orange for some consistency wit hthe six main colors including the IS ones.
Clan Pulse lasers
Beam thickness: medium/ standard
Small : Purple
Medium: Yellow
Large: Cyan, change to -> Orange, cyan is a tertiary color. Change it to orange for some consistency wit hthe six main colors including the IS ones.
Clan Heavy lasers
Beam thickness: thick
Small : Yellow
Medium: Orange
Large: Red
Just an example of mine. Could use different colors for heavy and micro lasers than what I suggested.
Like with clan lasers, I feel its just out of placethat suddenly theres a cyan laser instead of adding the last missing colors for laser including.
Also I tried to use small, medium, large to gradiant some of the colors, like with the micro lasers, the biggest one there is purple, bridging that colors to the "larger" small laser which is also purple. Yeah Im odd like that.

Ok when it comes to laser colors or colors on anything. I've got massive OCD on that when something is color coded we need the primary colors red, blue, yellow. The secondary colors purple, orange and green. And possible the cromathic colors (not really colors) white (all colors reflected) and black (all colors contained). Add grey for the sake of it.
You can bet I get an headache trying to add above colors, spread among say 5 variants of a mech and to which role they will have *sigh*

Personally, I would prefer the IS be on the warm spectrum (smalls are yellow, mediums amber-orange, larges as red) with the Clans being cooler (micro as violet, smalls as blue, mediums as cyan, larges as green). Longer wavelengths are less powerful but attenuate less through atmosphere. Both factions blast through more watts to compensate for this behavior where appropriate, explaining the heat trends.
