Yes The Time has now come to give the Dragon its long over due rest.

The latest PTS has pretty much removed any effectiveness this mech could muster.

Only the truly determined and most hardier of the try hards will still attempt to pilot this mech.

most will not succeed .

those who do , i will be happy to be proven wrong.

You sure? I mean i thrive on DoA mechs IS and Clam. If this PTS is what you claim it is then i can't go near it lest i attain godhood.

Can we stop the hyperbole train for like one minute, is that even possible?

Yeah the Dragon really needs some loving. Simply raising the right arm to shoulder height, like it is in the TRO, would fix it up nicely but that's never going to happen either.

Posted Image

Sigh, one of my faves.

I'll still play it though! I've got a full set to skill up!

while im not sure its every I.S. mech , my awesome while not as awesome, in the pts was still effective enough. although i am going to really miss the fire suppression that thing could lay out.

I am afraid that a great many of the IS mechs are going to be really hurt by the new changes. i was really hoping a fully buffed dragon with all armor and structure buffs would help it in its common skirmish scenarios. but it seems to be even more fragile now than in live.

Jumping off the hyperbole train for a bit . we may all be in for a rude awakening as many I.S. mechs will have to be redesigned for other roles on the field. with the new incoming tech the new light engines may help the dragon and other mechs on the field. I just wish that this pts gave me more optimism that this may be so. watching another player in a cicada gave hope that it may be a even more potent harasser. And as i pointed out earlier the awesome still remains a threat. will have to see how the illya fares and a few others. just wish that i had a bit more hope.

Have people actually looked over the quirks IS mechs get, relative to their actual use on the battlefield?

There's a clear reason why you don't see a lot of IS mechs, and if you do, they're probably quirked to a degree.

It's one of those things people won't realize until those quirks are removed.

Tier 3 & Thrive... DO NOT GO TOGETHER!!!!! Since the PSR bar is really nothing but an experience bar, then you can not even move up to Tier 1 is truly sad.

It's not just the removal of IS quirks ... it's the added availability of skill buffs to Clan Mechs.

This will make the competitiveness gap even wider.

I don't understand why PGI can't see this problem coming a mile off... PGI invented quirks specifically to address the imbalances. They didn't give most Clan Mechs quirks due to them already being at a competitive advantage. So, why doesn't PGI realise that removing IS quirks, and giving Clan access to new buffs, is going to recreate the balance issue, and make it worse...?

There are ALREADY skill buffs on clan mechs. ALL my clan mechs have fast fire, and heat gen skills with cool down and range modules.

You clearly can't see the forest for the trees.

Except IS mechs are having those old skills removed as well, AND THEIR OFFENSIVE QUIRKS. Why is it so hard to see that?

Clan mechs getting one step backward and two step forward in the new tree. IS mechs getting two step backward and two step forward in the new tree. Which means Clan superiority is getting wider.

Apart from times when Dragon possesed godlike powers (hello dragonbowling and quad-AC5-60t heavy), it was always a bad mech and always will be because of horrendous design or rather horrendous implementation PGI came up with. Despite all praises Alex gets this one was an utter fail. Rescale could have made it viable but since rescale was yet another epic fail, we have what we have, a useless poorly designed mech. However this is nothing new, "the time" had already come, years ago.

There was a time for Dragons.... after the engine cap it was the only mech that could be played as "hunter killer" or "heavy skirmisher" for some time.

Dragon Bowling - well that was one value - oh I can't change that number we need to remove that feature.

I kind of miss my Flame, but i can't seem to make it work nowadays. Ah well, except for the overquirkening of the -1N it never really was a powerful chassis. Maybe one day, or not.

Interesting, friend of mine was actually quite happy with how the dragon handled and the silly amount of armor you can get on it.

Look, other than that hideous arm, the only problem with the Dragon is that people treat it like it is a 70 ton mech when it's really a 50 ton mech with a weight issue.

Big engine, assist (real) heavies, soak and roll your fair damage, keep moving.
