Its a worthless hassle.
So instead of playing any random mech you want for fun, you'll play the 10 you have added nodes for over and over again.
Thatll add excitement and diversity to the game.

Yup. And add to that the mechs that are being particularly brutalized by the nerfs (over and above the inherent nerfing via the skills tree alone) and diversity if improved even more!

Clicking to Master my Mechs does not bother me, especially if you consider that it has to be done only once per Mech.

I guess some people are just exceptionally b****y.

Except it's not a "ridiculous" complain. Yes, it is the least of all the problems with the skill maze, but it is still a problem and yet another example of the shoddy UI and coding that went into this mess. The skill maze UI is horrible and off-putting. It's yet another thing that gets in the way of actually playing the game and having fun, and it will certainly turn away new players once they get a good look at how tangled, sloppy, and stupid it is. The endless mouse-clicks required are just the icing on that cake.

It's fairly ridiculous. And something only really an issue for people with big collections of mechs they intend to play. For those of us with a few, it's annoying, but shrug worthy. And for a new player they plug in points as they go, so it doesn't seem like a big deal.

I have a vast slew of Mechs. It doesn't bother me. You only have to do it once per Mech, and you would have to have done it anyways as you accumulated your Mechs from the beginning.

I wonder how many clicks it took on the old system to master your Mechs, including all the clicks it took to shoot your weapons to grind the Cbills to buy the modules that you don't need anymore.

Remember? If you mastered your Mech and didn't buy modules, you still get a 91 skill node transfer. In the old system, you had to master your mech, and then also buy modules. That's a hell of a lot more clicks, grinding for millions of cbills.

I member. And I was referring to the notion of complaining about too many clicks being fairly ridiculous.

First world problems is first world.

I could care less about 30,000 clicks total across ALL mechs, who goes around upgrading all of their mechs all at once anyway? Seriously?

"But, but muh time is being wasted." If you're playing this game, or any game and talk about it on the forums then chances are you have more than enough of time to blow it seems.

While you guys are acting like jackasses you have to realise that Time To Kill will increase with the heat/mobility nerf and buff to armor. Thats more click per game! This is insane, someone put me out of my misery!

It really isn't necessary to assign skills to all your mechs immediately.

Just assign skills to the ones you are going to play.

exactly... and once you get a hang of how the tree effects mechs, you are going to know exactly what you are going to want to do.. it takes all of a couple mins to skill up a mech once you know what you want.

Personally i'm just goign to play 3 mechs to start, all the same mech/same build.. (clanner) and then try 3 different builds and see how they effect game play.. Like a mobility, tank, and weapon all in.. mix and match a little, and get a feel for a few weeks.

After that i should have no issues with skillin up other mechs in just a few mins. I'll do what i have done for years.. Pick a few mechs and play um each week.. NO big deal.. and with 100+ mechs, it will be the same, I'll have mechs i haven't played in months, or even years just sitting.

1 mech a day, would take me almost 6 months to play um all, and i don't play daily. So maybe this time next year i'll probably still have some mechs i haven't gotten around to even trying..

Alot of clicks, not that I care, really. Yeah they could improve the streamlining maybe. But seriously first world gamer problems.. Ever played WOW?? Thats a clickfest, sure different game but do you hear people complain about that?
Or do people really need something to complain about ALL the time, now thats sounds more tiresome thant 10k + clicks in a game.

32760 Clicks Minimum to get my Mechs back to satisfactory operating mode. Not including skill point migration clicks, save clicks and Mech selection etc.

Cmon PGI some streamlining is in order.

Just setup mechs you want to play immediately, then slowly flesh out the rest of your mechs. You don't have to sit there and set up EVERY single mech immediately considering you probaly don't play more than a dozen on a regular basis.

I certainly would not find it boring to skill up any variant I choose to play. Cause unlike current boring arse skill tree, where the skills are the same for every mech, the new tree will actually offer some variety, depending on the mech type, and class.

Yeah, I'm going to have some variety in Firepower tree picks; I estimate I'll have 24 to 28 points available for that tree.

Laser boats are obviously gonna go for Heat Gen and Laser Duration.
PPC boats for Velocity and Heat Gen
SRM boats for Missile Spread and Missile Ammo (and probably Heat Gen too)
Ballistic boats will go for Cooldown and Ballistic Ammo

Also some minor variation in Operations tree, depending on if the mech needs Advanced Zoom or if it has ECM.
