Hello all,
I recently purchased my first rifleman, and love it greatly. Though I have a question to put to the forum:
The rifleman 3n has a 20% general ballistic cool-down. Plus a 5% ac5 cool-down. 25% total. Im wondering which would be more preferable, 2xac5s at 25% cool-down, or 2xac10s at 32% (I have a 12% cool-down module). Simply put, AC5 at 25%, or AC10 at 32%? both with 4 medium lasers at backup. I realize this might be a question of preference, but im secretly hoping this kicks of a discussion on choice rifleman ballistic builds and war stories.
Might as well ask since im here......the bushwacker went on sale for cbills today, do any of you have builds that have served you well and true? It seems to fit the same role as the rifleman, but in a smaller package.

The AC10s are a lot of fun, also try dual LB 10s and enjoy the crits plus extra tonnage for ammo.
You can try these builds on a Bushwhacker as well, they work. Otherwise make some SRM splat mechs with one or more Large pulse as backup.

A spread damage weapon...ZOMG how could you do that!?
But I digress.
Go to smurfy and plug both in OP. You will see the AC10 has the higher max sustained DPS.

It doesn't spread that much compared to the limited range and damage drop-off of the AC 10.

Crit chance isn't a lie, it's pretty nice for a support mech and the Rifleman isn't a frontline mech that can take much damage. Choose your battles, this thing doesn't have as much armour as a Warhammer nor the tonnage for a standard engine. It's a very fun mech chassis regardless of salt/bs/forum smack talk.

mech skills are about to change and modules might be going away in 2 weeks so this question cant really be answered till we see if the new skill tree goes live.

AC5s got nerfed hard, AC10 is now a superior weapon.

Your comparison seems to be leaving out two important things.
1) You should buy CD module for UAC 5s as well.
2) You are leaving a very significant tonnage disparity in these two loadouts. The 2x AC 10 loadout is an additional 6 tons.

This is how I actually run my RFL-3N, it works well enough, but something to keep in mind is that dual AC/10's is very heavy, espically if you want to couple them with quad MLas....
As for Bushy builds, I'm very much in love with my BSW-X2, it works best as direct fire support to something larger, also highly important with Bushies is to face your enemy at all times, as with slight movements it actually spreads damage very well due to the narrow frontal profile.

I prefer AC-10s on the 3C.

My 3N is dual LBX-10s and 4MLAS with 80 rounds of ammo.
The thing pumps out the pain. It's intensely good.
Unfortunately, I don't think it'll survive dequirkening.
