Let's review what really happened during Tukayyid 2.
1st . PGI gave most of the merc units the ability to dogpile the Clan side. I.S. side ended up with a lot of pugs.
2nd. Shortly after the event started it was obvious the I.S. was going to get wiped, so PGI changed the rules of the event. I.S. ended up with a 20 ton advantage. Sound familiar? It should. Same thing happened when Phase 4.1 launched.
3rd Wait times were horrendous. There was not enough slots to accommodate all the groups. 14 (clan)groups waiting plus their opponents (14x12)x2 meant 336 people waiting for a map. Population imbalance meant 24 I.S. groups (288 players)didn't have opponents.
Waiting... Waiting... Waiting...

Those numbers don't even account for the people that gave up and logged out.
"THE BEST event this game has ever had" ewwwwww.
Yeah there were MORE people playing for IS, so 228/kcom/MS etc joined clans for shorter wait times and IS still outnumbered clan.
All that in a mode with no matchmaker. A mode that coaxes noobs into it for free mechbays. That and historically the big units tend to end up in the same faction, which many of us have always assumed is so that they don't have to fight each other.
As long as FP has no matchmaker events like this are going to be dictated by those groups. In a perfect world they would be fighting each other rather than crushing pugs, but since people are people things are unlikely to change.
