So just for grins and giggles I bought the Urbanmech R60. The thing is absolutely god awful as it comes stock, I couldn't keep up with even the assault classes and was shot down within the first few minutes because I was always isolated. Anyway I started thinking of ways to give it a little more pep in it's step and lot more bite than bark. What are your thoughts on this setup?

why not dhs? might be overkill, but it's not like the *11 empty slots would do you any good.

I think most people either go with a standard engine as their first priority and then fill the rest with lighter weaponry (MGs and MLas or MPls), or XL with big energy weapons like LL, ERLL or LPls. I think you can start to see that with the links already given, but I think it bears repeating.

I don't think that a UAC5 Urbie build is bad per se, but you might need to drop the MGs and make the MPls just vanilla Mlas instead. And at that point I'd consider upgrading from a 170XL to a 180XL (and then you only need 3 extra DHS instead of 4), and use the partial remaining ton for a little extra armor.

UM-R60

Not the best build, but others could probably tweak further.

It's been said many times before, but it's really kind of funny that most people end up running energy-heavy builds as opposed to ballistics. A 2xERLL, 2xMG, 4xJJ with a 180XL is what I probably prefer. If you don't mind focusing on energy builds for the Urbie (this does bug some people), the -60L gives you some decent utility. You can run something like this 2xERLL build, or do what a lot of people do and run something centered around 4xML or 4xMPLS (very 'killy' in the right hands, I must admit).

If you are going all in, go big! (3 tons of free quirk armor)

The MPL/MG builds with STD engines are always solid. I'm even guilty of dual LL sometimes, and a LPL/ML combo is pretty flexible. You really have to want to work for it to make the large AC builds function, but nothing is satisfying like chasing down a Madcat with a few remaining rounds of AC20.

The thing is that, Urbie works best with energy weapons, despite being fun on ballistics.

I would suggest to make use of meta builds first; UM-R60 Laser Sniper - 2x LL + 4x MG, 10 DHS, 2x JJ, and work from there.

I personally make use of the Protector build.

If you want moar builds, check my guides: https://mwomercs.com...3-urbie-builds/

Waste of money = inefficient use of your assets = not acceptable as good pointer .

Everything works better with energy weapons - unlimited ammo, light weight, no arcing trajectory, short/zero flight time and so on and so on; point and click, deal damage, rinse, repeat.

Lazerbeams haz a tedious.... at least PPC's require a bit of leading your target, that helps!

Pfft. Super-stock or bust. Big ACs are actually quite good on the high-mount lights- you just can't be careless with your shots. Laservomit will always be easier to perform with, but there is something just sublime about knocking out a 600-damage game with a 400-damage ammo load. Plus you get to cherry-tap wounded heavies and assaults to death with a single small laser- what's not to love?

2 ERLL for sniping, and 4 MG for finishing all those mechs with open torsos at close range :
