Currently, targetting computers giving boosts just don't really make them "targetting computers" how we saw in the batttlettech anime series, capable of aiming for parts and locations of weakness. To reflect that function, maybe what targetting computers can do is to highlight the hitbox of which ever hitbox the retical is touching. That way, we know which part we are hitting and thatt's what targetting computers do less the ability to actually automatically lockon and track those specific parts.

I like the idea to highlight the hitbox to know what part you are currently aiming at.

Nice idea, strategically compliments the game, and if it's in TT, it's probably canon to lore. Should be easy to implement using a simple "outline" type shader. I'd like to see something like this for IS too.
In addition to the idea would be to make the outline reflect the armour and structure colour, maybe armour outline and structure fill, both 50% transparent over the actual game world image. Here's a rough mock-up:

Whilst I like the concept, it's too overpowered as a stand alone ability. All it would do is encourage more PPFLD Alpha-whoring. But it's not without salvation.
1 - Limit it to the 'mech you currently have target info gathered on, that will prevent snap shot alphas.
2 - Highlight the targeted component on the paper-doll rather than the 'mech. That way it requires pilot skill to make effective use of without making it EZ-mode component targeting for the unskilled.

Targeting Computers are useful. They improve accuracy.

They increase crit chance and zoom if you mean that with accuracy.
