Steam release had breathed in new life for MWO, but also brought out tons of immature brats. And Russians. Posted Image

Just love hearing Russian or Eastern European accents berating people for not pushing or playing aggressively.

This community's toxicity in game is absolutely nothing compared to hardcore multiplayer games. Now, the forums are often a cesspool of staggeringly irrational thought, but the game itself? Not really.

Compare MWO, where you may get some snarky comments on a terrible match to the festering pit of horrible behavior that fills games like DOTA 2.

I played one game of DOTA 2, and it was one too many.

It was a year or so ago, and my brother in law was into the game at the time. He thought I might be interested when I was visiting to give the game a try. So, he lets me play a game on his account. Trying to be honest to the team of PUG's he's with, he mentions that I was new - big mistake.

VOIP instantly fills up with profanity and death threats... because threatening to kill somebody for being new at a video game is a perfectly logical human response. Posted Image So, we turn VOIP off.. the text chat fills up with wonderful stuff like endless use of the F-word, things like "I hope somebody kills you," and so on.

I play the one game, actually score better than some of the raving madmen on my team, won, and will never, ever interact with that horrible, pile of crap community again. With attitudes like that, they clearly aren't even mature enough to BE on the internet, much less interacting with other human beings.

So, yeah... MWO has nothing on games like that for horrible communities.

There seems to be something about that particular genre of game that brings out the sheer worst in people. I remember playing Shattered Galaxy, which is a proto-MOBA of some kind, by Nexon, although its more of a sci-fi rather than fantasy setting. That was back in the early 2000s, and I was between from playing Heavy Gear 2 to Mechwarrior 4. Even then the chat channel was quick to profanities and tempers blowing up to a scale I never experienced while playing HG2 or Allegiance, or MW4 multiplayer which I did after.

At one point I decided to quit my clan, would never play such a game or something similar, which I still hold to this very day.

Anyone who thinks this is bad, I will Give you acces to my Bronze div league of legends trolling account for 7 days, you must play 6 hours a day for those 7 days, if you haven't killed yourself by day 7 or still think MWO community is toxic i will salute you.

Trolling account.... Nice... What a quality dude to have trolling accounts. Do you pretend to be a complete troll while in them or is the same level of trolling you do in day to day life, but surrounded by trolls?..

I guess one of the troll stories that came up here, was probably your MWO trolling account, or at least one of them. How many troll accounts do you make per game?

What a joke some people are. I bet you expect people to take you seriously now too?

the best way to not experience a toxic atmosphere is to actively generate the opposite

you dont need to fight or arc up against toxic players, in fact its 99% counter productive
instead just ignore them, mute them, move on

say positive things to attacked players

encourage your team

say GG and the end of every match, respect your selves and your opponent for showing up to play

if you get 12-0 wiped, tell your team good try and better luck next time
tell the enemy GG WP, they earned it

be the positive community you want to be apart of

Bbbbbbut, what fun is there in not ******** all over each other at every opportunity... Cado's trolling accounts would be completely wasted! Something something safespace cuddlebears ruin all the good trolling spots, I am going back to 4chan where my freedom to speak nonstop profanity and advocate crime while pretending to be 8 different people isn't challenged by these gross humans and their speech etiquette and forum rules.
