Welcome to the series of the "Peripherial" Mechs, which will cover mostly the machines not so common in IS, like the Locust, Griffin, Warhammer etc.

The purpose of these series is to (mostly) show no BattleTech experienced MechWarriors the Mechs from the Peripherial nations (Taurian Concordat, Magistracy of Canopus, Marian Hegemony, Outworlds Alliance etc.), but I hope that I'll manage to (at least) bring PGI attention towards those. Perhaps there would be a chance to include them... Posted Image

So let's begin with the Brigand.

Quote

The Brigand is a 'Mech that is surrounded by a sea of controversy as it is the first 'Mech to be produced by a pirate band. Produced by a company named Vengeance Incorporated, which is run by the pirates of the Haven Star Cluster and "Lady Death" Trevaline, the Brigand represents an unprecedented threat because in spite of the fact that it is built by pirates, it uses advanced construction techniques and weapons. The 'Mech is built on a contraband Endo Steel chassis and is powered by a GM 150 fusion engine that gives it a top speed of 97.2 km/h. The 'Mech's speed is augmented by six contraband jump jets that allow the 'Mech to jump up to one hundred and eighty meters. For protection, the Brigand has four tons of Haven Cent armor.

The Brigand carries two Diverse Optics ER Medium Lasers for medium range combat and has two Sutel Precision Line Medium Pulse Lasers for close combat. The 'Mech utilizes an arsenal consisting only of lasers to limit the amount of logistical support needed.

The quoted section was about the LDT-1 variant.
There was also 10 more variants, which are available on the mentioned source.

So - opinions?

if we only add high mount mechs, we run out of robots fast.

I think the Brigand makes an excellent choice for the next IS 25 tonner. The JJs help make it different to the Commando.

The only other option I would like is the Raptor, but that's another kettle of fish entirely.

210 engine max would be decent enough with jump jets. Also a rocket varient though aside from a few different energy hp models the rest use maces.

OFT

Why not make low mounts faster in yaw and pitch?

Not a bad idea really, having the heavy mass of weapons close to the gyros in the centre of the mech. The less top-heavy the design, the more stable it should be for a walker. It would be a nice compromise to the clear advantage of high mounts on a lot of other designs.

Back to the OP, the Brigand would be a lot of fun, especially if PGI ever added a pirate faction. There could be different mechanics for a faction like that such as salvage based match rewards vs. the usual store other factions use. Give each pirate faction player a Brigand mech to start with. Every ten successful match wins, give them a second then a third variant. Every time the pirate player kills ten lights, fifteen mediums, twenty large or assault mechs of a certain chassis they can put together the salvage for the first variant of that chassis. Every match has a chance to drop weapons to equip your mechs. And for Inner Sphere or Clan pilots...bounties! For every killed, there are bonus c-bills according to Tier level above normal match kills. I know few people would likely play as pirates because of the random loot in mechs and weapons, but I think it would be a fun way to build a faction's military and add some extra flavor to faction warfare.

Well the mech looks cool, gives another commando type mech to the game, but slower. My suggestion to pGI for adding it would be to increase its structure or something to help showcase the outlawed endo skeleton. But to be decent (not meta but usable) it will need some hit box and quirk love.

Looks like an oversizes SpaceMarine with an AC1...and I mean AC1 as it has a heavy rifle what is basicly a bigger Tanks gun.

How did a Mech with 2 tons of ammo destroy 9 Mechs? Just asking.

Anyways, Brigand sounds good. Alex can put the Tosro weapons wherever the heck he heels like, they do not have to be waist height.
