Hi guys, I wonder if anybody could give me a few pointers or help me out here:
I am using a Lenovo G70 Laptop with Windows 10 and I start the game via steam.
I can open the client, when in the home screen or Mechlab I can rotate the mech, drag and dro equipment and the likes. Howeer once I am ingame or in the academy and the first training mission, I cannot start up my mech. press P does not work (using a qwertz keyboard).
All I can do is sit around immobile and wait to be show down.

when in testing grounds or the tutorial try running through all buttons on the keyboard, do any of them work?
if you are running a quertz (looking at it it seems just the Y and Z positions are swapped relitave to a qwerty) rather than qwerty it could well be that some key mappings do not match up with your keybord layout in which case finding out what does not work should allow you to remap the keys to taste.
Many people, myself included, heavily modify key mappings so remapping is not an issue.
if nothing works try using [alt] [tab] to switch to a diferant window and then go back in to MWO, that helps me occaisionaly when MWO stops recorgnising key presses

I had this exact bug about two months ago. I was trying to return to the game after a long time away and outright could not play because as soon as the match started, the game ignored my keyboard. I could still alt-tab or bring up task manager or use the keyboard in any other way except to play the game.
I never found a solution to the issue. After the next patch, I was able to play again. I have a suspicion MWO has a lot of quibbles when it comes to non-standard/non-104-key keyboards because there have been quite a few keyboard bugs over the years (like the perpetual turning bug which only afflicts non-standard keyboards).

I surprised MWO even runs on this.

I have got the turning bug a few (I think a total of 4) times (and it first happened in the last 6 months) using my current 105 key bukling spring keyboard which I have had and been using for MWO for more than 3 years, but [alt] [tab] out and back in fixes that every time.

so first up:
Alt+Tab does 0
When i try to rebnd keys, it will not accept them. I can, however, use my keyboard to chat. So something seems to recognize it, just not when I am actually "sitting in my mech" ...

I have seen that discussed in some other games where the laptop keyboard input would not work as intended.
Do you have a keyboard you can hook up to it? Have you played the game on the laptop prior to this issue? Have you tried rolling back to a previous update?

Check all of your start up programs. The last time this happen (2010) a program GuardedID was the corrupt for the posters. Below is how to prevent it from starting up, or from preventing any programs that is the Startup from launching so you narrow the issue and eliminate it.
go to start -> type in msconfig -> enter -> startup -> and uncheck gid desktop application -> restart
Engineering has reverted that the Guarded application will no longer be available in the current produced Lenovo laptops therefore the suggested solution for this issue would be to remove or to prevent the application from starting up via the following steps.
Prevent GID application from Starting Up
Click Start
Click Run
Type "msconfig"
Select "Startup" tab
Unchecked GID desktop application
Press OK then reboot laptop.
or
Uninstall GID Application from Windows
Click Start
Click Control Panel
Click Add / Remove Programs
Search for "GID" / "GID Desktop Application
Select the item and select uninstall
Reboot when uninstallaion is done.
Appreciate those who have posted their findings on the thread.

Just to add, if not that, an update to one of your security programs. GuardedID is a security program to prevent keyloggers from recording your keystrokes, you may have a program similar to that.
