Hi there,
So PGI loves to sink CBills into anything they can.
Either through Skill tree respecs, equipement, weaponry, modules, you name it.
Those things are kind of ESSENTIAL to the game itself.
But what if you could spend your cbills on something that you could cherish more. Something that would require your own time spent thinking about it, designing it, placing it and so on.
Here it goes lads.
So I'm looking at this page
http://www.sarna.net...ee_(BattleMech)
While playing my banshee my Banshee, drinking Long Island Ice Tea and just chilling and shooting mechs in the mush.
And theres multitude of variants that have different setups and loadouts.
Not to mention theres one variant that has Triple Strenght Myomer which reacts to mech heat capacity (more heated you are, more agile you are... that would be a fun and different mechanic to play with)
So what if PGI included a special variant to each mech that would cost X ammount of CBills. For sake of theorycrafting it let's say its 20 Millions for assault, 15 for heavy and so on.
That special variant would induce further pain to your CBill wallet. How? Well these variants would include an option to fully customize (at least to some defined) extent.
That customization would include :
- pay to upgrade max engine size (e.g. 1 mil per one size : max border 300. to get to 305 = 1 mil cbills)
- add/remove hardpoints (you want to create your own "Hero" BNC with 8x AC2... have at it bro/sis - e.g. 5 mil cbill to add/remove/move a hardpoint. non refundable btw)
- add/remove special eq slots like MASC.....dare I say ECM? wtf not. e.g 10 mil to include a supercharger and some nitrous oxide + spinning rims onna as a bonus.
I don't need to add that each of these (depends on quantity and quality of customization) would dig deep into your pockets and take a lot.
Why not give us our own way to create our unique "Hero" or "Champion" mechs.
Why..... why..... why not?
One can always dream.
P.S. Numbers are just an example. I'm not fleshing this idea out because I'm waaay to happy about it just to put loads of work into it and have PGI say "no. *** u, we buzy counting cheddar from civil war predorders".
Someone smart put words toegether about it and said "if you're good at something, don't do it for free".
Well I'm a man full of ideas.

Alas, if PGI let us add hard points...oh say, up to 16 per mech total...they would put the first 12 at or around your mechs crotch and the last four spread as far apart across the front of your mech as possible.
I'm surprised they haven't instituted this form of customization already.

All PGI-assigned hardpoints would fall into 3 categories:
1.) Mounted under your Mechs wrists,
2.) Mounted at the Hip,
3.) Mounted on top of the shoulder.
You can have up to 8 type1 hardpoints, 6 type2 hardpoints, and 2 type3's, however you must first populate the type 2 slots before then type3 slots can be populated.

To put it into more fleshed out area of ideas.
BNC : when has ac5 has 2 on shoulders rest of it goes down on waist. If its anything bigger it gets on a hip.
So if you follow that rule and keep it to a mech. Then no overpowered 2x ac20 on shoulders.
Bigger weapons are heavier and go down. At least for the most part. Whilst you maaaaybe can mount only one big weapon on a shoulder per mech (not per shoulder).
But yeah the main idea would be you can put it either where current hardpoints would be (and their mirror on the other side of the torso) and when that is included then we can think about it like decal paste : wherever you want. But after the first part of the idea is implemented.
