I'm in the minority but I like to bring
BLR-2C, ZEU-9S, WHM-6D, SPD-5K
The Zeus is criminally underrated. It's a Super-Warhammer with incredible quirks. You could downsize and run a Cicada last, but dat Zeus is soooo good.

The Spider brings nothing, better to go down to a Locust so you can bring 65-75 tons on wave 3.

The spider is a good scout but really not able to carry.

A Dragon...? I don't think so.
Try:
BLR-2C
WHM-6D
GHR-5H
JR7-O
All of which will probably need to change when the new Skill Tree nerfs most IS Mechs.

I don't really recommend a Battlemaster unless it's like Boreal and you love touching things with ERLL. LPL is a thing, but you'd probably want a STD engine to push with (it's not sustainable either normally, ghost heat or not).
Grasshopper-5P is the goto, for obvious reasons (regardless of range).
Medium options are kinda limited to Enforcer-4R or BJ-3 (you could do both, but tonnage usage is important).
For the Light, Lolcust is probably the best option, as long as you don't stop and derp. 1E, PB, or 3M are good options.
Banshee with STD engine and all the wub is probably a good bet (you can fit a "slower" STD 350) and try to help be the tank to plow through things (XL is too much of a gamble IMO, but it's pilots choice though)... although an Atlas gets easily exposed for the same ironic reason (can't do much more than mid-range on it - gotta excel @ brawling there).
The options are there, but they are just worse overall than the Clan ones (my dropdeck is that much easier/flexible had we gone Clans for the event).
Edit: Cicada-2B is still also very strong... with 3F/3M being an OK alternative.

The Dragon is really tanky now and cool running with 3 lpls. Think of it like an IS Linebacker made more for side-poke than splat.

Left poke Dragon with 4LL with XL350 is actually pretty good. I'm a terribad so I don't like giving build advice cuz I have this crazy view that all mechs should be viable if not competitive, but I brought it out lat night and it was remarkably competent.

The Spider works great for me. I'll drop down to a Locust if I want to bring a Marauder third drop, or to upgrade the Zeus to a Battlemaster.

Oh look, spheroids exploring their garages .

don't see much point to the spider; it doesn't have the firepower to be a 'brawler' sort of light and those are tons you could use elsewhere.
If you like the 2xBLM alignment I would just drop to a locust and whatever 70 ton you prefer

Just from experience I've found the Spider to work well in many end-game situations. The Locust is great too, but I prefer the Spider.

Wait...are you saying we should be exploring something other than Warhammers, Grasshoppers, and Battelmasters? We should explore something other that the top rated mechs that currently exist in the IS? By explore, are you suggesting that Urbanmechs, Kintaros, Cataphract 4X and maybe a Highlander is the cure to all that ails the IS and is the answer that no one else seems to have for clan PPFLD? If not, then what exactly are you suggesting we explore? Cuz, I for one need all the help I can get and am open to suggestions.
