I love getting passed up 4 times in a row because of the FP "improvements".
4 seconds to go, count is 12/20 - sweet got a match - count goes to 13/20 at 2 seconds. Match Drops, I'm waiting at 1/6. Even though I had a "priority" spot.

Thanks for making it so much fun Paul! I love not being able to play the game mode anymore.

I tried fp a couple of times. both times I was in an embarassing pug matched against the same highly organized 12 men group. Never tried to play that **** again.

Well it was a blast when they started it and much fun to play.
But they never dealt with initial design problems and over the Time it became worse and worse.
A real pity.

larger groups get priority in group mode, working as intended

You're in luck. The good fella's over at MS are organising faction nights and getting anyone interested into groups were they are guaranteed to be able to get matches.

Groups of size 12 get first priority, 11 second priority, you're the last priority as a solo queuer. Fix it and you'll be golden.

With people like you it's no wonder the player base is dropping like it is.

He's actually a really nice guy and for added bonus points he's also Canadian.

Anyways it's not players that are the issue, the changes are beyond our control. PGI 'fixed' faction play and are reaping the rewards of their efforts. Just be glad we at least don't have 48 hours of pure scouting any more.

The counter was 12 for my faction choice. I had already been through two cycles. at the last moment ONE person joins bumping the count up to 13 and booting me out.

So one random person who wasn't even in queue boots me out of my spot even though I was in queue before them?

His post suggests otherwise. Real nice guy coming in to bash someone for no reason. Being Canadian doesn't mean anything. I know a few a-holes that are Canadian.

The tie breaker for solo players is ELO, so the other guy had a higher value than you. It's not a good idea to rely on tie breakers though, just get in a group

sorry if feelings were hurt, there are many reasons why the player base is dropping and I doubt I have much to do with it. I may have been harsh, but saying something is a joke when it's doing its job isn't very nice either

but what I said wasn't wrong, the system is working correctly, it's meant to prioritize groups to increase chances of groups meeting other groups, in a mode that's designed for groups fighting groups. Solo players are only meant to fill spots if groups aren't available. If it didn't there would be a lot of people complaining how solos are always going up against groups and that's the reason for player base dropping

try to find people to group up with, as Feral said MS is currently doing their best to provide new players a solid FP experience, check out their threads in the FP forums

the whole game is a joke with a bad punchline as minimally viable as pgi's intentions.

Which, if true, is frankly stupid given:
  • one player has already been waiting for a long time
  • game mode has a comparatively low player population

This information is in the patch notes and the dev notes for FP... and it keeps the pilots who would do the worst out of FP until they get better or team up.

It's pretty smart as far as what PGI has done, not that the bar is high

That is one way of looking at it.

However, here is another: PGI is kicking in the balls someone inexperienced but willing. How are people supposed to learn if they are denied the chance to do so? Doing such a thing to a critically dwindling player base ...

A willing person would join a group, no fault there

You can't learn teamwork without a team

It seems in this example that there were 12 players on one side with a few seconds left to locking it in.
That should have meant a done deal and is not an example of groups taking priority.
1 single extra player jumping into the queue should not be queue jumping.
So what happened there?
Was that +1 added to a group? in which case that group was really quick to ready up and get into the queue again.

Many things could have happened...1 person drops out a 2 man joins simultaneously...

Bottom line is joining a group will improve your gaming experience.
