Ahoy MWO universe

I have a ..... different question.....

I started playing MWO shortly after they moved to steam, but have to endure crappy ISP's where I live in South Africa.

After trying and reading everything I could find online concerning how to better my ping and lag issues(WTFast, VPN's, DNS setting, Wifi-Cabel stuff ect), I found a dark corner of the universe that had some interesting advice..... "move from Steam to the Stand-alone".

Not having steam run in the background makes sense. But how do I migrate my account from Steam to the stand-alone not wanting to lose all my progress and mechs? Basically the reverse of what 99% of players have done......?

Any thoughts?

Your MWO account is not bound to steam, you can simply downlaod the stand alone and then login wiht the same login data that the MWO launcher requires you start via steam.

Like the others have said, but...

Your account is your account.
Everything you have is stored on PGI's computers.

In other words, you can download the stand-alone client.
And all your stuff will still be there.

You can save some bandwidth by copying files from where steam stores them, but everything on your PC is (basically) just a shortcut for the game. (if that makes sense)

If you have a low end system, it does make sense to close down all unnecessary programs in the background.

If you are wanting to close STEAM while playing, the link listed there will show you how. Basically, you can use STEAM to patch the game while you are not present on patch days, then close it down and either use the bypass shortcuts, or to also have the standalone launchpad, download the MWO installation and point it to your MWO Steam directory, install then stop the follow up patching.

There are different avenues to go on that.
