A few things have become extremely obvious to me as I play in this event. First, I have played MWO off and on for some time, not as much as I would like to. I have been playing MW games since the SNES, and have been playing Battletech since 1995 or so.
I like the idea of the events and various prizes being given out, however, the clans have a decisive advantage in the Scouting mode. Every match I have played has has no less then 2 Nova Primes sporting small pulse lasers, along with at least 1 mech with ECM. I have only been in about 4 Scouting matches in which the I.S. team has had a light mech. This leads to the same situation in which the IS team runs into the clan team without much warning. The faster clan mechs quickly overrun the I.S. team's position. The clusters of small pulse lasers make quick work of the I.S. mechs, and if they have any difficulty in doing so they still maintain the speed advantage, along with the jump jets to escape.
The primary advantage is the omnimech pods that allow the user to radically modify a single mech for a few hundred thousand cbills. There is no need for a completely new mech to compete in this environment, which also avoids the need for another mech hangar. This clan advantage is increased by their tech advantage. Making things worse for the I.S. players is that we are fighting against clan mechs with even tonnage. Even if the clans are capped at 50 tons there is no chance for parity through armor or increased number of weaker I.S. weapons as I.S. mechs need to be 1 weight class higher to compete through armor and structure, even though they are normally at a disadvantage when it comes to firepower.
Another problem with the event is that there is a significant advantage for those players with a large roster of mechs. "First win of the day" XP rewards can significantly add to the XP gain of a player. A player with far more mechs will be able to swap out mechs from their drop deck that have completed their first win for those mechs that have not. Such allows for a challenge to go from "Hard" or "Epic" to "easy mode".
I just thought I would throw this out there, but admit that it is unlikely that I will be on the forum anytime in the near future. Its just that this event, particularlly the scouting, has irritated me because of the lack of competition through unbalanced game play that should have been easily forseen as a problem.

I think only reason why Clanners lose at Scouting is because many of them do not know how to leg a mech.
The things I used to do with my trusty CSPL Nova, or the quad CSRM6 HBK-IIC, are too horrible to mention.
The XP challenge was very easy to complete. I didn't even swap out any mechs.

The nova is a nice little mech. I run mine with 12 * ERSL, 4 * MG and double cool shot. I use it to scout all the time. If an IS mech runs straight at me it is cored and dies before it gets close. Here is what I fear in the nova.
An IS mech (e.g. Centurion Ac/Srm) comes at me shield arm first. I can blow my heat taking off his shield arm but then even with the cool shots I go into the brawl hot and with the additional hit points he has and the constant DPS I lose. I could wait for him to get close and turn so I can focus his CT. The issue is I can't alpha strike or I'll shut down. He turns and alpha strikes me. At the same time I start the burn of my first 6 lasers and the next 6 soon after but he is shielding again before I get all my weapons to bear. As soon as I'm done he turns and alpha strikes me again. If I think he has an XL I'll blow the cool shots and burn through his shield arm to get it. I've died many times finding out it is a standard.
A team of good IS pilots vs good clan pilots is a hard ask for Clan but average clan players will beat average IS players most of the time. The don't shield well, they get spooked by the MGs and they don't draw fire off of team mates.
