I brought this up in the PTS forum late last month, and it's interesting to see more people talking about acquiring duplicates ahead of the patch so we have more 91-SP 'mechs on hand right off the bat. I still haven't seen much discussion of Omnis, tho.

We're losing the Rule of 3, and except for Heroes you get the same Omnipod access with the Prime as with any other variant. Unless there's a CT hardpoint you need (Night Gyr D, for example) I suspect we'll be seeing fewer OmniMech variants bought. Why buy any Stormcrow besides the Prime, Champion, or Hero? None have CT hardpoints and the set-of-8 quirks don't really make that big a difference compared to the value of hardpoint customization.

At that point, the purchase decision sort of goes:
1 - Do I want to spend $/MC on this? If yes: Buy Hero/Special/Champion variant. If no:
2 - Which C-Bill variant has a CT hardpoint/JJ or critical quirk I need? Buy that, or:
3 - Which C-Bill variant is cheapest? Buy that.

For most OmniMechs it seems like people will skip directly to step 3, especially with the global rollback of quirks. Am I missing something?

A lot of people will buy duplicate mechs in order to skip node reallocation per loadout. Better than being forced to buy and play variants that they do not like, I suppose.
