This is a private gathering not a public square. Using the forum and in-game chat is like being invited over to PGI's house to play a game with their friends. PGI set out the Code of Conduct for being here, and for good reasons, for the benefit of the player community. Please act accordingly. (By declining to engage on the merits of off-topic, hostile rants I'm not agreeing with the content.)

I try to stick up for the newbies.. I give um tips, or tell others to cool it, or go play group if they can't deal with new players. I know i sucked bad when i first started.. My 100 damage average and .4 KDR and .7 w/l is proof.. But years later i can now carry games, get 800-1k damage in a good match.. (though honestly i often feel like that means my aim was terri-bad, how can i not have killed 5 people with that amount of damage!) I semi regularly hit the top 3 match score on my team, so i can't be that bad. When i drop with good players i am about middle of the road in the match, like team units in FW. Though often that is harder because they are on TS, and i'm pugging, so i'm probably missing info that could help.

But even still i have games where i pull stupid moves and die with 40 damage, or just am having an off day, or even match. personally i hate bullies, and that's all they are. Try to not take it to seriously, they are the ones being tools.

:others,

Learn to play is not advice, its a total **** move.. Offering to help, by explaining weapon ranges, how targeting works, how to break line of site, why you twist to shield damage with yours arms.. THAT is helping someone learn to play.

It's impossible to police every action that goes against the COC. I've reported people a couple times for particular words that are racist or homophobic.

You have to be practical about it though. You have to pick your battles. There will always be jerks with nothing constructive to say. You can drive yourself crazy fighting it or just let it go.

I sometimes try to say something helpful in defensive of newbies, but other than that, grow a thick skin.

Again, I wouldn't tell someone to grow a thick skin over something that is explicitly racist or sexist, but other than that, you gotta let it slide. It can't be policed. There aren't the resources to do it.
