I have to say I agree with the OP on this one..

This hard gating in an attempt to reduce min/maxing is ridiculous.. Min / Maxing will always occur.. this way, the skill tree is simply made more robust and complicated, needlessly..

Besides, even if the skills were straightforward, there's so many things to choose from, and ALL are useful, especially with the global nerfs.. so hard choices would still have to be made..

Do I want weapon cooldown or weapon range? JumpJets or survivability? Extra cool shots or Zoom module?

Hard choices would always be made.. the way it is now, it's only making it more difficult and convulted to make them..
