Make it built in on every mech. I can understand that Seismic and Radar Deprivation require an investment since they're pretty powerful but Zoom?
You shouldn't have to respec just because you want to try a AC5 or Gauss instead of your AC10.
Replace it in the tree with something else. You could even have a skill that tones down the sensitivity a little when you activate Zoom but standard Zoom should be there on all mechs.

Errrr... Zoom IS on every mech?
But ADVANCED zoom.. is well.. advanced... and better..
Otherwise, the "advanced" part would be redundant.. therefore.. you get to make regular zoom better... and that's ok in my book.

you shouldnt have to take 3 crap skill nodes to get advanced zoom
if im using advanced zoom then sensor range and target info gathering are both useless to me since the whole reason im using advanced zoom in the first place is to snipe at things that are farther way than sensor range.
they need to rework the skill trees so you dont have to take useless skill nodes.

Well... I guess you do.
Also that is the exact argument we had before.. only replace "X nodes" with "X cbills".
I feel it is ok, it is not an essential bit of kit unless you do dedicated sniping. And if you do, a little bit of investing is not all that bad.

I was referring to advanced zoom and yes it should be standard on every mech, decoupled from the skill tree. Like I said, if you switch from an AC10 to an AC5 or even AC2 you shouldn't have to "buy" it only to "rebuy" other skills if you after 10 matches find that the new weapons weren't to your liking. It's a special case imo and should not be regarded as on par with seismic or radar deprivation. You are only switching caliber.

Congratualtions.... we do have a winner....
The idea is to get you to sacrefice some short term flexibility (especially if you do not have a few million banked legacypoints) for a increased efficiency in your choosen field.
Yes... you did get it right... You are being punished for wanting a specialized bit of kit.... That is the simple explanation. So just suck it up and deal with it sniper...

You realize you are taking sensors.. What should the 3 sensors leading up to zoom be? All sensor range? But you said 3 useless skills, sensor range is one of those skills.
I am at a loss at what 3 skills should be there instead. The only possible switch i could see is swap gather info 2, with target retention. But honestly if they did that, they should switch Range to the other side, so it is range and gathering, and Decay and retention. Then Zoom.. (though i wouldn't mind seeing Zoom on both sides, then the player could choose to just pick one)
